TrainWreck
I marched BD 81-85 in the hornline. Some of those BD pictures, compared with the other pictures you posted epitomized one of the differences from BD to the other corps. Namely, the wide open drills. It was drilled into us about why our M&M was so demanding was due to the huge spreads we had in the drill and the intervals we typically marched at (3-4's, maybe up to 6) to get the 100 yard spreads. Those pictures easily captured Cavies, Guardsment, Garfield in the shots. BD was not so easy. The other thing was the "Victory Stance" that we did in BD. The M&M staff tried to get that out of the show in 85 and it about caused a riot with the the horn line. I instigated putting it in during a run through in Madison which caused much great heart-ache. It eventually found its way to the finals performance. The 82 Blue Devils did something a tad different which you won't see on the video. As the arms are held up in victory, the horn line first held up a fist, then counted to 5 on the left hand signifying each DCI championship. You might be able to see pictures, I think in the year book, with a horn member holding his hand up in victory which meant to us that night that we won BD's 5th DCI Championship. The little subtleties in a show. There's one shot of the BD horn line up above with the horns pointed to the ground. That was the "drop spot" where the horn line emptied the spit out of the horns. Always during concert (La Suerte) in the picture. One More Time and La Fiesta during my time. Edited January 8, 2009 by TrainWreck
