doublc
Some more Imperial Knights...now it's 1978. The blue has turned to orange, a successful winter merger with the Valley Grenadiers has brought a lot of new members, new instructors came in from the Muchachos. The corps definitely started growing up.
doublc
The 2 "big deal" events we enjoyed in '78 were: 1. Qualifying for our 1st finals show (Eastern States Circuit Championships) 2. Marching at Giants Stadium. Granted, it was halftime at a local college football game, but it was still Giants Stadium!
doublc
1979...Fantasia III is born. Another successful merger, this time with the Dynamic Royalaires of Oradell, a much bigger corps, a much more ambitious outlook for the future. doublc
Significant events for us in '79: 1. Went on tour for the first time ever (US Open in Marion & DCIs in Birmingham) 2. Qualified for our first national finals show (US Open Class A) 3. Performed at Yankee Stadium (for a lifelong Yankees fan, a huge deal for me!) doublc
Fantasia III, 1980. More sophisticated look, more sophisticated show design, made our first DCI Finals in Birmingham. Everything pointing to a bright future!
doublc
Fantasia III, 1981...unquestionably our peak season. KILLER drumline, the most aggressive 26-man brass section this side of Boston, and one of the most astounding soloists I've ever heard (Pete Beckwermert). World Open finalists, 2nd place at DCI. It was a fun ride!!
