This Will Return Drum Corps to Glory

Recommended Posts

Bingo !!!!

"Back in the day: when audiences easily topped 30,000....corps all had a "park and bark" secion that was cheered wildly. NO corps, absolutely NO corps of the hundreds that existed did a three minute silent drill....name one

While park and bark isnt needed today, in my opinion, to bring us full circle, it is true that the music must stand on its oen first, then the rest fills in the gaps to make the show(s) that much more enjoyable, accesible, and successful.

And plese, dont reference 93 Star, ot 99 SCV, its the way they presented the music that made these shows visual programs that much more desireable.

Thats what's needed today, but it wasn't"park and bark" it was stand and blow the crowd away!! ^OO^

Well, this EDUCATION thing is getting a bit out of hand, isn't it? Anything a drum corps can pull off well on the field shows that it CAN in fact, be done. And that is education.

Why is Phantoms show so popular this year? Because it's great musically! The audience knows Gershwin.

Like SCV playing Copeland.

Or Madison playing Slaughter on 10th.

Or Spirit of Atlanta playing Blues in the Night.

Phantom of the Opera wasn't an old selection in its day... but it was wildly popular with audiences (on Broadway). SCV showed it could ALSO be done on the field!

I'd like to see a sci-fi themed show on the field (Like Doctor Who) pulled off.

Or maybe just to see a corps scream through the theme to Jonny Quest.
