ADD Reviews: Quarterfinals - as seen through DCI Cinecast in Walled Lake, MI

Since this is my last chance, I used lots of duplicates.

MANDARINS

Biggest little corps in DCI.

SEATTLE

Narration was better in Indy.

CAPITAL REGIMENT

FOR SALE: Sundial-shaped closet.

That girl changes clothes fast!

Most improved corps since June.

XMEN

Show designers shouldn't smoke pot.

COLTS

Music Man = Drum Corps? Yup.

SPIRIT

Where's the Phantom mask, Rondo?

Always better with fluorescent green.

GLASSMEN

Trendsetter. Everyone's fluorescent now.

Would Dvorak be proud? Scared?

Mid-show nap always helps.

SCV

Spelled everything but SCV.

Nothing to lose. Bottle Dance?

Rondo traded dis for cake.

BLUE KNIGHTS

Judges say, "10th". Crowd, "14th".

"Enchanted Evening." On after SCV.

Pit: white man 'fro award.

BAC

New year, same design.

Pink, white, watered-down Candide.

CAROLINA CROWN

Gorgeous. Gets me every time.

More visual dirt than usual.

Worst uniform for TV.

BLUECOATS

Power. Class. They're for real.

MADISON

New DVD feature: Carman cam!

Biggest emotional range in DCI.

New ending – still not working.

BD

When good corps go bad…

Shhh...trying to watch DCI!

Too late to change shows?

Dance derby LASTS a century.

PHANTOM

1920s guard - except the orange.

When all else fails - orange!

Tubas need more melodic lines.

CAVALIERS

Who took their Lucky Charms?

Hats even goofier on TV.

Need help hanging Christmas lights?

10,000 years bad luck nightly.

3D drill. Next year: jetpacks.

CADETS

I want a girl-making door.

The surreal world. Season one?

They killed the most judges.

The Announcer.....must go

Mandarins....need a uniform change, awful

Seattle....best use of narration (although I hate it)

Capital Reg.....okay corps, nice surprise

Xmen....nice show, better then expected

Colts....not too bad, unimpressive

Spirit....not bad, just too many different tunes. Luck be a Lady best song for them.

Glassmen.....okay, not thrilling

SCV....nice M&M show, should be higher.

Blue Knights...only corps I didn't see

Boston....okay show, just no big thrills

Carolina...'bright' uni's....okay show, wonderful hornline

Blue Coats....good show, not the thrill I expected

Madison....Carmen was great..WSS gotta go.

Blue Devils.....Marching was great, horns played great, show sucked.

Phantom....Finally a drum corps worth watching!! Nice hornline, drumline and great drill!!

Cavies.....same old Cavies (only not as clean)

Cadets....Band from the get-go. No thrills at all....disappointment to say the least.

Cadets score was way, way , way too far above anyone. The drumline might be ###kickin', but thier show is off the wall and not a first place show.

My opinion of DCI has been totally ruined with these band-o routines. Sorry, I may be old school, but that's just my opinion. Except for Xmen, Spirit, SCV and Phantom, DCI should not be associated with drum and bugle corps., as I see it.

Again, the announcer for the corps is scarey.....what's with him?

Cadets

Don't do it. Seriously, don't.

Cavies

Good show needs new opener.

PR

Phantom enters the 21st century.

BD

No music? Add trumpet solo.

Madison

Strumpet takes focus from trumpets

Bluecoats

Stong show not quite enough.

Boston

Nice, friendly show. TOO nice.

Carolina Crown

Guard escapes prison, reveals wings.

Vanguard

Greatest drill hits from 1990.

Blue Knights

Have we found identity yet?

Glassmen

Dvorak meets New World. Excellent.

Spirit

Her Majesty's Theatre ain't Broadway.

Crossmen

Don't let 'Bohemian Rhapsody" fool you (into believing that there really IS an interest in 70s musical arcana - ok, that's more than five....)

Colts

Dang, expensive props don't help.

Capital Regiment

Oversized sundial makes little sense

Mandarins

Welcome to primetime. Now 'more'.

Didn't see you because late.

Seattle Cascades:

Icarus too close to sun.

Lots like "Conquest" - not me.

Joy is contagious - spread it!

Carolina Crown -

Crumb's Black Angels would've rocked.

Star-like brass line: heavenly.

Stealing title of "jazz corps"

Colorguard rocks this baritone's world

Madison:

Guard better looking than usual. :)

End needs some more work.

Best screamers of the night.

BD:

Downey abducted by space aliens

Vanguard

Greatest drill hits from 1990.

 I've been having flashbacks to 1990 all season long!

1989, 2004 = great years for SCV!

1990, 2005 - what happened to momentum??

1990, 2005 = a very "white" corps (white pants, white stripe across the tunic)

1990 = spell "SCV" on the field

2005 = spell "1917" "CCCP" "USSR" "1991" on the field

1990, 2005 = GREAT music selections!
