Hawthorne Caballeros end of year party!

The Caballeros gathered at La Nieves in Haledon, NJ after a very productive day of rehearsing to celebrate the past years accomplishments and to toast the incredibly electrifying 60th Anniversary year coming upon us.

Yearly awards were given out.

Marcher of the Year went to Allison Quirk.

Guard Member of the Year went to Allyson Gerdes

Drummer of the Year went to Anthony D’Andrea

Horn Line Member of the Year went to Michael “Gordito” Ferreira

A special service award went to Jack Kotran for his never-ending devotion to the corps. Driving the truck to every performance and making sure every corps member goes on the field ready for competition.

The prestigious “Caballero of the Year” went to……………………………

The 2005 Hawthorne Caballeros………..all marching members, staff, support staff and management.

Many would say that a 7th Place finish for the Caballeros would be failure……but not this corps. This was one of the most gratifying seasons for the corps. Always seemingly behind, and with a huge turnover in membership last year, many challenges were put upon the organization, lots of soul searching and the constant struggle actually made this corps grow stronger and stronger each week. From the Wildwood show, to the DCA’s the growth in this corps and improvement was simply astonishing, and it would not have been achieved if not done together, as one, as a FAMILY!!! For that, each member was truly deserving of “Caballero of the Year”.

As this 2005 year comes to a quick end, the Hawthorne Caballeros would like to thank everyone for their support this year, and wish only the best for you all in 2006. We look forward to seeing you all on the field next summer.

To the Cabs of 05 thank you for all that you went through last year. You deserve the Caballero of the year and in 06 we will all be the drum corps of the year! This corps is on fire. Hold your heads high. Caballero Pride.

Also Congrats and thank you to Ally for the things she said about Adam and Brian, those boys are well overdue for some thank you's and recognition. Adam and Brian are not only part of the heart of the Caballeros they are the arteries and jugular too!

Man am I sorry I missed the banquet. Unfortunately, I had to get up at 4 am and go to San Francisco Sunday for a conference. Congrats to all the individual award winners!! The Caballero of the Year award to the entire 05 corps is terrific. CABS '05 =strength, persistence and fortitude. I am proud to have been part of it (even at my ripe age). See you all at Jan camp.
