ZSDAvenger
My question is, are we talking about loudest sopranos with good quality tone and in tune, or just plain loud. thats DCP for ya.... well that depends on what your definition of "is" is. sheesh. Question seems pretty cut and dry to me.......
leadsoplove
My question is, are we talking about loudest sopranos with good quality tone and in tune, or just plain loud. I think that they main idea was sheer volume and resonance, but I also don't think that any of the G lines mentioned have any major tone and tuning issues either. -On another note, trumpets CAN produce that resonance, but few people learn how to do it. Check out some good Adam's students. Although I don't think Bach will ever make a line of Strads for drum corps. G's are just pitched lower and have larger bores so it's EASIER to access all the overtones.
ravedodger
In my experience, the loudest sop line ever would have to be the Renegades, 2002-2005. I can't think of anything within DCI just now. Edited December 15, 2005 by ravedodger

bawker
Out of stuff I've seen live...1992 SCV and 1995 Madison come to mind. Both were some of the most balls-out hornlines I've ever had the pleasure of hearing.

ravedodger
Ive heard those lines...and Im not sure I could agree with that. Loudest I've heard, of course, I don't get out much. But I'm going from experience, not a DVD or CD with which would be enclosed in something with a volume knob attached.
