elphaba01
The SanFrancisco Renegades win that caption hands down. (DCA) I have never heard a louder Melli section. You would have to see their show to know what I am talking about. "Loud Mellophones": The Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni "Phone Company" was nothing if not LOUD. In 2005 they had 20+ of them and they could definitly PRODUCE VOLUME. Elphaba WWW

My favorite loud mellos were the MIGHTY THREE from the Skyliners back in the early to mid 70's, you could hear them over EVERYBODY, even when Pepe Nataro was playing Frenchie! Jared_mello
Crossmen 1995, actually, have a lot of mellophone in the general hornline sound. Love all the mello parts in the opener, and all they were performed extremely well too.
rut-roh
Well they did have something like 24 mellophones that year. :)
ferb27
Word.Spirit's great mello lines of the late 70s and early 80s...FOUR players. ESPECIALLY 79 AND 80. WOW!
MaxwellNotes
The single loudest mellophone player I have ever witnessed was Gary Larocque from a small canadian corps, but man was that guy loud with a capital L!
MaxwellNotes
Madison Scouts 1980 mello rips in the opener were very loud and pretty good quality too!
ferb27
Madison Scouts 1980 mello rips in the opener were very loud and pretty good quality too! how about at the end of that show when the dm is bringing out the 75 championship flag, drinking a glass of water, while the corps is in full power mode. then at the end he turns around, and brings in the mellos for one last rip. one of my all time favorite moments. madalumni
I was always impressed with the power and quality of the Madison lines from around 80-82. Those rips in the 80 opener, and near the end of the 82 opener were incredible and they were done with 4 mellos! I think our Reunion corps http://fastlanecpu.com/reunion/main.htm will set the record this year at DCI semi-finals for sheer volume. We have 111 ib the brass line, including 24 mellos. It's gonna be loud and it's gonna be good! Edited January 27, 2006 by madalumni
idontwan2know
If we want any opinions from fourth soprano alternates, we will give them to you. Wanabes......... I thought that's what mellophone players were? :sshh: :sshh:
