OhioStateTad
Hmm, perhaps because Garfield didn't have a good show in Finals, yet went up several points in score and won. Garfield was arguably the better drum corps and had the show to win it; however, their performance in Finals and subsequent placement of first was, how shall we say.......... a gift (again - same thing happened in 84 too). You're full of crap. I have both audio and visual recordings of Garfield's Fri and Sat night perfs. Saturday was MILES ahead, both visually (esp in guard) and musically. There was one bump... the "whistle" player in the pre-Candide intro was off... and the closer began a little tentatively... one can't tell audibly... only visually if he's looking at the right section of marchers. elphaba01
"Great Female Soloists": "Pre DCI": French horn BUGLE player Barbara "Murph" Finch of the old St Anns Loyalaires drum corps, of Bridgeport CT. In an era where few corps had co-ed bugle sections (St Anns, the Royal Lancers, Argonne Rebels, Troopers and St Mathias were among the exceptions), "Murph" was to say the least 'exceptional'. She could get POWER out of that old Getzen valve/slide GD horn that few of her male counterparts could equal. Elphaba WWW
SACMellos2010
Another repeat but Barbara Maroney gets my vote. Also I have to say I felt in 84 and 85 Cadets were the best corp and deserved both championships. Now 1993 is another subject!!
