mobrien
Has anyone mentioned Blue Devils jump from 24th to 9th in 1975? Minor correction; BD was 23rd in '73 to 9th in '74, 3rd in 75, then 1st and 76. In terms of a rise to the absolute top, I'm not sure that anyone's ever done it faster. geneseo_bari_87
They absorbed a lot of the Northmen's horns that summer, didn't they? I really enjoyed that show, and the use of "Meet George Jet-sooooooooon" as a leitmotiv. The 86 corps laid the groundwork for the fine hornlines and color guards to follow from Dutch Boy. I think it was Avant Garde's horns that went to Dutch Boy after '85, including the kick-### soprano soloist. That was a great show. The Sinatra show in 87 also kicked plenty of arse. Lancerlady
Memphis Blues went from nowhere in 1979 to 20th in 1980....breaking a record until Star came along and beat ours... :P For a first years drum corps and all..if my memory serves me I think Spirit first held the record, then we broke it, then Star broke it....Yeah Spirit had that record in 78 when they came to town in 23rd place. :) Edited February 14, 2006 by Lancerlady
