bawker
Of course not. :P http://www.hammacher.com/publish/72835.asp..._digitalTrumpet However, what if electronics were legal? What kinds of new things would we see out on the field aside from the obvious synth/keyboards? This isn't a "electronics: good or bad" debate thread per se, just trying to ask what kind of possibilities are out there for the activity if indeed such a thing passed. torn8o
Of course not. :Phttp://www.hammacher.com/publish/72835.asp..._digitalTrumpet However, what if electronics were legal? The price alone should tell the story of the quality of an instrument like that. Also, the fact that no real skill developement is required to play the instrument (unless you need to be taught to "hum") leads me to the conclusion that this is medioctrity at it's lowest rent. Now, I would definitely be open to a horn like that where you actually needed to use real brass skills to play it. There ARE also electronic devices of course which can be attatched to a real brass instrument that can do these types of things too which might be cool if electronics are ever legalized. Go back and dig out your Tower Of Power recordings and find "What Is Hip" for an example. Something like that could be a real innovative asset to drum corps and would still keep it within the brass and percussion instrumentation. But no, that "thing" in the above post may as well be burned before we get so far away from "skill developement" that kids no longer have a need to actually "learn" something. Remember, we...LIKE...the "educational" part of drum corps...?!?!?! Edited March 10, 2006 by torn8o

I'd be frightened if my corps beat the corps wielding that weapon of mass destruction.
