Love this photo. Going by the score sheet, this is '77, and it looks they had their ballet slippers but didn't yet have the ribbons laced up their calves. They were doing grand battements probably before most in guard had heard of the term. So far ahead of their time!

Thanks.

Lee is right about Electra Blue '77. She and I were in the Seattle 77 contest http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...t&p=2634411

I found the program about 2 months ago. The longer I stare at the photos the more I remember. I also found my travel journal 1976 -1979 including travel to Seattle and back. Stanley Knaub was designer/choreographer for the Imperials 77. Pam and I taught guard Alberta All Girls. Stanley was our design consultant. I've been humming Imperials music for a month and finally found the title/composer today. Please give me time to compose text for this photo that is dear to me.

I joined drum corps in September 68, I did winter guard before marching on the field for 11 years, marched winter guard 68-77, winter guard tech 71-84, winter guard board of directors 79-88. Guard tech for about 7 guards as clinician, part time or full time in Ontario and Alberta.

I found some Ventures memorabilia 10 days ago. I was guard tech 74-75. Here's our contest and a program scan, Michelle was on rifle that year. It takes time to remember winter guard. There's not alot of documented history. Thanks for your patience.

Edit: Byline "grand battements"? Thanks for the reminder. I took ballet lessons when I was 9 years old, dropped it for drum corps/winter guard and did high school musicals and theatre. I call that move a side kick.
