JimF-LowBari
After the 71 season, a large part of the Cadets drumline moved to the Cabs after our drum instructor, who also taught the Cabs at the time, was fired. Our ages were between 17-19. When I first started marching two seasons later I thought the big guns like Sky and Cabs were full of guys (yeah all male then) in their 30s or so. Guess I should have looked closer at Cabs drum line. :P
Rratex
In the 2005 edition of Gulf Coast Sound, the youngest member on the field was a 10-year old mallet player. The absolute youngest was a 6-year old honor guard member. Of course, the parents of these children were members of the corps. The corps policy is that those under 18 have to have one involved parent.
Baritone Tammy
Statesmen do. They are called the Young Americans, if I recall correctly. The official name is now the Empire Cadets, although at one time I remember them being called the Little Americans. :-) They are not really a drum corps though, they are more of a band program. Playing concert horns and including woodwinds. Several kids have moved on to join the Empire Statesmen though. I know we have at least 4 of them in the corps currently. At our indoor show in March they joined us along with the school band to play Rio. It was a blast. For more information on the Empire Cadets or the Empire Statesmen, check out the joint website!
