Ex VK DM
Well if you take the placements from 72 to 05 then value the champs with 12 points and the 12th place corps with 1 you get and interesting top 12. Blue Devils - 334 Santa Clara - 326 Cadets - 266 Cavaliers - 259 Phantom Regiment - 255 Madison Scouts - 238 Then there's a BIG drop off Crossmen - 98 27th Lancers - 87 Bluecoats - 76 Star - 70 Spirit - 70 Bridgemen -

84BDsop
Blue Devils are still experiencing that! 'Tis the cross we must bear... (*strikes melodramatic pose*) Some reason why my boys have been soooo consistent...success breed success...top notch instructors (2 generations in the case of the Meehans), an unflinching drive to be the best...not being afraid to try new things...but those can be said of Cadets and Cavies as well. The REAL reason??? Go back to Jerry Seawright...pick the right people for the job and then let them DO their job. That breeds a LOT of loyalty to the organization, which allows the core staff to stay the same from year to year, and thus they bet better and better at feeding off each other and working together. There have been individuals who have been with a certain corps for years...even decades....but nothing like BD.
ContraRich77
Yeah, well every year except their first they have been in top 5.. 5th places being rare. They just get so much talent there it is impossible for them not to :P In 1991 they took 5th. BUT, they won High Brass (or tied Star for it, either one)
