academyBTone05
this is to all the people that are constantly dogging on the Academy. ok, we are a Div. II corps. but not by choice. As far as the enoumous hype around the Academy, there should be. All of you that just run your mouth and never go to any of the shows need to realize that your little corp on the east coast might have some real competition now. And as for the hype, think of this. The end of our season ended last year at Drums Along the Rockies, by invitation. We were the first corps to take the field, and had never been to a venue this big...ever! So this baby corps, 2 years in the making, walks on to invesco field and the entire audience was on their feet. and throughout the entire show there was a constant appaluse. Unfortunately, we were the only corps to get that, along with a standing ovation. and by the way, at the end of the world champion Cadets show, there was silence, absolute silence. End of the Academy show, absolute uproar in the stadium. So the hype does had something to back it up. just as reference to all you Academy haters
mello118
Nobody is "hating" Academy by saying they won't walk all over the east coast without competition . . . And I have seen them, and personally, I don't there should be the kind of hype there is about them. Maybe it was because of reading all of this hype online, but I actualy felt a little let down when I saw them. They are excellent, of that there is no question. They are not as good as some would make them out to be.

It looks like all the people in the stands liked them based on their reviews.

The list goes on. I DO NOT dislike Academy. Having seen their show, it was definitely executed well, and I had no problem with it, it just didn't engage me as an audience member. I like Academy (although I perferred last year's show), and I don't see how saying what I did could come across as me disliking them. I like Academy. I do not think they will walk all over the East Coast come finals.

I hope this is just someone posing as an Academy member to try and stir up the pot because there's no need for this sort of shameless bravado and self-promotion. That said, I hope you guys have a great season, and I look forward to being on the field with you at retreat.
skluyuk
One thing that I read and admired about how the Anaheim Kingsmen used to operate was that they were very self-contained and oozzzing with respect. One thread relayed a story about how the corps completed their show, returned to the venue to watch the other competitors while sitting as a group and had escorts for their guard members when they had to visit the ladies room. I don't believe I have ever seen smack talk coming from anyone out of that organization. What a great example to follow. Defend your corps integrity by how you present yourself on and off the field. Up until now, I had not seen any smack (or even very many comments) come out of members from The Academy and was very impressed with the self-control exhibited. I know it's hard to read all of these threads and criticism about a group you love, but don't let go of the aura of integrity that has been developed. Put the criticism to shame by what you do on and off the field. And congratulations on such an awesome show this year!

Pudge
academyBTone05, I've been lurking all season, but thought I should join to comment on your posts. As a huge Academy fan, I really hope you're not involved with the organization. I have family and friends that march/have marched there, and have been involved for 3-4 years. I know that they don't put other corps down, and have nothing but respect for other groups in DCI. They are proud of what they do, but they don't have to hype themselves to others for validation. As far as I know, they are instructed not to post online. And knowing some of the kids in the group, I can say that they are proud of the way people view their organization and respect those rules. If you are in the Academy, as a fan I'm really disappointed at how you've represented your peers; they are great kids and deserve better than that. If you're not involved in the organization, and just stirring up trouble, you should really consider the impact that your posts have on their reputation. BariEuph
Pudge (and others) ~ i highly doubt that that person is a member of academy, and i've got a several year vet in agreement with me, an alum, for the following reasons (their bullets) -it is VERY well known that we're not allowed to post on dcp (we being members) -VERY VERY WELL -nobody in our corps would put the name of the corps, their section AND the years they marched in their username
