I have only been to one show, Westminster, a month ago, but I don't think the colors have changed. I also remember very little of the guard. I think it's because the guard, and many of the silks, are the same light blue as the backdrops. They just fade into them. I think if they did away with the backdrops, which I don't think add anything to the show, the guard would pop out and be noticed a lot more.
