ContraEH
wow. for six years there wasn't a contra at your corps..? Yup! True story..so you can just imagine how happy they where to have me there...and how happy I am to remain there.. (although..it would really really be alot better with a contra line! haha..) Keep on keepin on JoCeLyNe
oldschoolVK
We were told to "shower with a friend". Sucked for the silver horns, but great for the chrome soprano line :P In the early 80's, the only finish on our horns was either nickel or chrome. Cleaning them was easy, either use windex or shower with the horn!
jamoline
ahahahaha.. chrome horns. man; that's ghetto. heh :P you don't see too many of those around anymore. I wonder why corps all switched to silver..
ContraEH
I wonder why corps all switched to silver.. IMO, their MUCH more attractive looking!
Geoff
I also know a guy who marched for 11 years of junior corps, I think he marched grenadiers last summer. I think he marched 9 or 10 years with Kiwanis. Just reading this thread now. My apologies. There were a few people who marched with the Grenadiers last year who were affiliated with Kiwanis at one point or another. Mike Sharpe, Scott Atkins, Cam Anderson are just a few I can think of. They all marched for a long time. I, myself, marched for 10 years in junior corps before going senior. Never with Kiwanis, though, although I did help out for a week last year, teaching marching. jamoline
IMO, their MUCH more attractive looking! yeah but why didn't they all play silver before, then..?
ContraEH
Because, you know, way back when..they had no sense of style ..heh..j/k I duno. But I'm sure in a couple decades that generation will be looking at our generation, wondering why our horns only had 3 or 4 valves instead of 8 or something! haha... that's a good question..hmm

Trumpetplayer83
Is there any other way? We all pretty much showered with our horns. As far as felts go our horns had rubber instead of felt, so no real problem there.
dcifaninindiana
I never showered with my horn, but we did have sectional rehersal in someone's swimming pool once. Does that count?
