Tekneek
Crown ended up dropping almost as many placements as I thought they would. Last week I thought they might drop all the way to ninth. Other than the brutal drumline, I don't know what it was. The show just didn't seem to have quite the same stuff under the hood as the top 7 did. Edited August 13, 2006 by Tekneek
Galen
I really don't think so. You could argue that 6 were better. It sure was tight, but there was NO WAY BK should have beaten Carolina. They didn't have the design...they definitely didn't have the hornline!!!!!! They sure had the PIT though.
Stuart1283
It goes to show how much one very weak caption can bring down an entire show. Crown beat BK in most captions. At the level of competition in the top 12, you can't afford to have such a weak caption. Crown FINALLY got some credit for their brassline by finishing with a 18.3 (6th place) so thats probably pretty close to where they should be. You could even argue that the brassline should be right there with the Cadets. Crown's design, guard, and brass are strong. When and if percussion figures it out, they'll be a contender in the top 5. I talked to some friends in Crown tonight. They are bummed about the score, but the reaction of the crowd in Madison seemed to cheer them up quite a bit. They are definitely aware of why they dropped....

Cop
they were lucky to get an 18 in their guard score based on the DCI clip alone!!!
George
According to the judges, the Carolina Crown were simply not as good as the last few years. Like all the East Coast Corps. they slipped a notch or two this year. yup - and according to these same judges PR had best visual GE and Cavaliers had best music GE
MikeBob
In a way, they did. In another, more literal way, they did not.
SACMellos2010
Another glaring thing happened in 1992 from the judging community.... make sure certain things fall to ensure a result to their desire. ON anotehr note, I was not there but really have a difficult time with Cavaliers being 6 tenths over BD in brass??? If that is the case things have really changed. hurdra
Simple - Crown was ROBBED!!! Sorry, but that design, that form book, that HORN LINE, and overall GE is WAY better than this - and their drum line was not THAT darn bad! Should have been 5th. Should have been 5th. yep....simply the most screwed corps of 2006.....but, can they please get Paul Rennick and/or Jeff Queen back, or at least someone that can write/teach to their capability? and nobody ever answered my question about why they lost Queen a couple years ago.
