TGBF
How do you create that high loud screeching sound effect heard in 2000 BD and Cavies 06?
triplefunk
I believe they took a piece of metal and scratched it on the gong, and as well, they took either an upright bass or cello bow, and "stroke" it on the edge of a suspended cymbol in perpendicular fashion. Edit: for grammar Edited September 11, 2006 by triplefunk
frontline99
Butt end of a drum stick, timpani grip about 4 inches from the end touching the gong. Nice and slow.
usmpiano
Cavies had a weird thing for that screaming sound....a guy in the pit took a cello/bass bow and bowed up and down something that was metal that I can only compare to.... you know those model sailboats that have the strings that go from the rigging to the boat itself that make it look like sails? It looked like one of those things (the strings part) but made of a thicker metal.
Iplaytimpani
Bowed crotales as well is a common screeching sound. Not positive about the show, but that may be it
Lance
I've always wondered how BD 2000 got the windshield wiper sounds in the opener.
