I think they will do a wonderful job with Cascades and wish them the best! 50th Anniversay and all. I certainly hope OC is able to hold it together, it is so great experiencing their performances. Things always change, and we all seem to live through it.

Well said Kurt. The only constant in life, is change--sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not. We will see the shape of things to come soon! :)

THIS IS VERRRY GOOD NEWS! :)

After a conversation I had in the Madison airport with someone involved with Drum Corp events in the NW I was concerned about the possibility of them going inactive in 2007 due to the closure of the bingo hall and all the staff issues during 2006. Too much effort had been put into the Corps over the last 8-9 years to see it all fall apart.

It is interesting that they are moving camps out of Seattle down to the Portland suburbs across the river in SW WA...but then Mike Leone and Lewis Norfleet teach in that area. It will benefit the kids from southern Oregon since Portland is midway between there and Seattle. It will be interesting to see what staff is put together for 2007. This will be good for Cascades but I hope that the impact to OR Crusaders isn't severe since the camps are about 30-40 min apart and they have been on the rise the past 3 years.

I think the location change will be a plus for most people involved. Not very many members from Seattle area are in the corps anyway. More members come from the Portland OR/Vancouver WA areas and then Spokane WA/Tri-Cities WA area (those seem to be where the high school music programs are in high density too). And I also agree that Portland OR is a more central location as well, and has an airport, so those who would normally fly to camps (mainly out of state members) can still do that with ease.

I just want the corps to be stable and have a stable administration. I honestly could care less about where it is located right now. My concern was the corps status for 2007. Seems like everything always works itself out for this corps! :)

And everyone has wondered what will happen with Oregon Crusaders, seeing as the audition venues are close by (on the same day) and the two corps being located within striking distance of each other. Lets hope the current staff has people in line or in mind to take charge of the organization. I'm sure it will work itself out.

There are a lot of emotions going around right now though, from current Cascades members and staff and some from Oregon Crusaders--some are happy, others are not, and that is to be expected, we understand.
