Rane_Stari
Who walked around after watch Academy's show on DVD humming/whistling their closer? Cause I remember doing it on tour after I heard it... everytime. The show in AZ, the inpromptu run-through at that one housing site, that 5 corps social... Everytime I heard it, it got stuck in my head. Anybody else?

In answer to your question, no, but I have been known to try to tap the drum part (badly) on my desk when I am thinking. They would laugh at my efforts. Does this count? I was a hornplayer who had a great interest in the mysteries of percussion. One year I actually talked the staff into letting me play bassline. I was threatened nightly with bodily injury by the other guys. This was in the days of the tick system in a corps which could and sometimes did win the show. I survived without any permanent maiming. By the end they even asked me to come back, but I had already cut a deal with staff as to what I would do the next year. So many memories ... B0Boman
Who walked around after watch Academy's show on DVD humming/whistling their closer?Everytime I heard it, it got stuck in my head. Anybody else? Hehe, yeah, I'm whistling it right now. Of course, I always think of it as Cascades '03 show. That was my first year in drum corps and we actually had two horn players in OC this year who marched that show with the Cascades in '03, one of them my brother. Ironically, Academy even had a member of the Cascades '03 visual staff working with them over the summer. Me and my brother and some other guys in OC had a good laugh about that one. I'm just glad there are no corps doing "this is the song that never ends"...
SkyRyder_FMM
Absolutely! I love their entire show. After hearing them for the first time, I had to purchase an ADP, so that I could listen to them on a regular basis. They were one of the first ADP's from Championships that I bought. MarimbasaurusRex
I heard it once in June and it's still ringing in my head. Now THAT's a good drum corps chart. Go Academy.
flashofthunder
I have not actually heard Academy's show from '06, but it seems that everybody who has speaks very highly of it. Yeah...but how the heck do you whistle the double tonguing part?!?!?!? It's pretty easy if you use your diaphragm to seperate the notes instead of your tongue. Think of making a machine gun sound, or something similar to Peter Griffin's laugh. While I'm not a great double tonguer, I can whistle Flight of the Bumblebee pretty easily by using the diaphragm to seperate the notes. The tricky part is keeping all the intervals half steps! It has absolutely no use on my euphonium, but it's great for whistling. Sorry, that was a bit OT
