"Now the Great Bear and the Pleiades" from Britten's opera Peter Grimes is an aria, not a song, but is still sung. Ummmmm ... by definition, an aria is a song, right? Arias are usually through-composed and less structured and strophic than songs. Both are sung, of course, so semantically you could say whatever you wish, but there is a difference in form.
