New Corps in TX - Texas Kingsmen

Recommended Posts

Yeah....and hey this pic isn't even HALF the alumni corps. (still can't use that "Anaheim Kingsmen" name tho..shhh)

Looks like there's a Texas Crossmen too. Ok, let's pick other states that have no corps and start some other versions of already existing ones,eh? This could be fun like we used to come up with names on tour from the sides of trucks like the "Roadway Drum & Bugle corps",etc. heh.

How about the Mississippi Vanguard?

Phantom Regiment of Utah?

Blue Knights of Elcho Nevada?

Cavaliers of Boise Idaho?

Star of Alabama

Ok...lame...but I also like the idea of the "Dicemen" out of Las Vegas, eh?? B)

And let's not forget the Kansas City Star!

I heard that this corps plans to have blue uniforms...

I wish every corps well, but don't they think it might be a little confusing and embarrassing when they compete against the Anaheim Kingsmen?

HOLY CRAP! That's an AWESOME picture! I actually had a shiver! I can't wait to HEAR them!

I know, slightly off topic!

Ummm...yeah...that would be THE Crossmen...they moved to Texas...or didn't you get the memo? ($1 to Lumburg)

Kingsville...Kingsmen...OK, I see the rationale...I'da picked something else but that's just me.

Good luck guys!

No....didn't get that memo till just today. Originally thought it was a "new Texas" Crossmen or something.

"Lumburg"...hahahaha.....too funny!! :) "Hey.....Mr. Lumburg has my stapler...It's mine and I brought it........." hahaha.

a "new" corps with a well known dead corps name????

I'm getting this strong deja vu with that comment. :-)

Long Island Kingsmen started out as the "Kings Park Kingsmen" 1964 - 1969. All our sports teams, school activities, etc. in town were also named the Kingsmen. And, as far as I can tell from Google, we are the only town in the USA named Kings Park. We became the Long Island Kingsmen in 1970 due to the large influx of members from the inactive Medford Grenadiers.

Wow, thanks for the history lesson. Thought there were maybe one or two other variations on this name, but not that many.

Personally like the fact that "Texas" was chosen to be the first part of the name. This really should clear up any and all confusion. This corps also has very strong ties to the Kingsville area and will also require more support from it as well.

***Texas Kingsmen is an appropriate and very clever name. It indirectly or directly gives a nod to drum corps past, and also embraces this new era of drum corps that is blooming in the Lone Star State. Lets continue to support new growth of our activity in areas where drum corps needs to be growing and in a positive way.

I wish the name was more "Texas-like", you know....

Why not copy more apropos names from drum corps past?:

The Lawmen

The Hangmen

and never forget...

The KILLMEN

:rolleyes::silly::blink:

Naw. Too politically incorrect for these PC times.

So, how many other "Kingsmen" have blue uniforms. Hmmmm? B)
