I still think it's appropriate for it to be in WGI, but in considering how sampling can "become the show" and distract, this was a clear case. I don't care for the sampling in WGI, but it's in its place. All day there were shows that told me what I was supposed to think, and few shows that let me enjoy what I was watching. Etherial, spoken word 'atmosphere'... blah.But in the case I was pointing out, it stole the show, and not in a good way. I fear letting DCI corps have this as a crutch. Ok but if you agree that sampling can be used WELL then what's the problem? If people use it incorrectly is that any different than an arranger writing a crappy horn part that is distracting and kills the flow of the show?
