sburstall Posted May 9, 2007 Share Posted May 9, 2007 (edited) The Past and Present The Oakland Skylarks are proud to annouce it's return to the fantasy competitive field. After taking two seasons off because of financial difficulties and loss of memberships, the corps will be returning to full DCPI status with a full show and full schedules. The past seasons were hard on the because of the economic issues that is currently going on in Michigan. We were able to find enough sponcers to offset most of our costs this year. Only drawback is we are to have patches of each sponcer on our uniform, ala NASCAR. That really didn't give us an issue since our program is entitled A Day At The Race. In fact we will be using that for our advantage as companies that come to other DCPI show can sign contracts with us with our onsight lawyers and will be added to both the corps uniform and equipment semi-trailer with 24 hours of signature. The membership is very excited because many are NASCAR fans. On June 17th we will be doing a standstill concert at Michigan International Speedway for the NEXTEL Cup series Citizen Bank 400 in Brooklyn, Mi. It's also going to be one of our largest fund raising events. Tony Steward emailed us if he could be a guest DM for the corps. We couldn't turn him down. In the email he also stated that "he would be an honored be part of such a fine musical organzation." He will also be given an honorary membership to the corps, this includes a corps jacket. Our logo will also be placed on his #20 car. The Show This year the Oakland Skylarks will presenting their 2008 DCPI programmed entitled A Day At The Race. A Day At The Race will simulate a day at the races. What atmosphere around race day is just as important as the race itself. The participant can envision whatever race they enjoy – from a track event up to a major car racing event. In each racing there are similarities are the same. In The Raising Fighting Spirit a challenge that is brought to the participants to compete in a race to determine who is the best. Oosawagi has that Marti Gras-like atmosphere of the race where fans from all corners of the globe to come together to celebrate the race and each their respective participant. Fun will be had by all. Shougou is the fanfare calling the fans and racer to signify that the beginning of the race is near and everyone must be ready for it. Will of the Heart reflects the indominatable spirit and quiet fortitude of the racer to compete in the race against others. Can he handle the pressure and the willingness to play by the rules to win? Who will be the strongest, faster and smartest to win in? Only in their heart will the true champion show himself. Race is the race itself. Each of the racers is fighting for position and to hope to be the one who comes in first place. Go, Go Naruto! reflects the excitement of race, from the drop of the green flag to the waving of the checked flag and fans yelling for their favorite racer to win. In the end there must be a Victory. Someone has to have the necessary skills to win the race and raise the banner for their success.
