sburstall
MUSCAT, Oman — A cyclone expected to be the strongest storm ever recorded in the Arabian Peninsula churned toward the oil-rich Gulf on Tuesday, forcing thousands of residents of Oman's coastal towns to flee their homes. The storm was expected to lose strength before hitting the most important installations in the Persian Gulf off of Saudi Arabia and southern Iran, but oil analysts said it could delay the loading of tankers in the Gulf — something that could cause a spike in oil prices. With winds of 160 miles per hour and gusts of 195 miles per hour — the equivalent of a Category Five hurricane — Cyclone Gonu headed northwest through the Indian Ocean toward Oman's east coast, with rain from its outer edges already reaching some areas. The latest National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration satellite imagery Tuesday placed Gonu as the equivalent of a Category Four hurricane. continueThe reason this was brought up and put here is because of oil. Besides the obvious rise in fuel costs, maybe it's time for DCI and the corps to start to reevaluate a few of it's tour models? Snapettes Mom
This same subject came up last summer and we were reassured that DCI has it handled. Something to do with with food stamps or oil credits futures or something derivative that locked in a decent price for the near future. Kinda like what corn farmers do with their crops so they don't go bust if the weather turns in the wrong direction. Not to worry : ) Mom A Happy Camper
sburstall
If this was a one, or two, time thing, yeah, I could understand what DCI is doing. This has been an ongoing year after year after year.... thing. Something has to break and it won't be oil prices.

gbass598
These days, somebody can sneeze anywhere in the vicinity of an oil refinery and it will cause a gas prices spike of at least 10 cents a gallon.
