BRASSO
If Boston and Madison keep putting out the kind of shows they've put out lately, I don't care if they rehearse on Pluto. Keep it coming. Amen, Brother.

calileadsop
Both Blue Devils and Vanguard rehearse in Concord and Santa Clara, respectively. I was going to say exactly that. Surely there must be other corps who rehearse in their home base cities? That is before they leave on 2nd tour.

BbTrpt1
Carolina Crown rehearses in Fort Mill for camps all the way up until Spring Training, when they move to Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs (about 90 minutes away).
rkfdPRphan
To answer the original question, no corps practice in the city they are from because DCI killed real drum corps. Duh. WRONG!!! Phantom Regiment has tryouts and camps very close to Rockford (Algonquin, Beloit) AND in May the entire corps takes over most of Rockford College (in Rockford, IL) to polish its moves and sound. There is PLENTY of music and marching techniques to learn INDOORS while the snow piles up outside....... (for a few years the percussion tried out and praticed in Texas, but those days are over)
BRASSO
Carolina Crown rehearses in Fort Mill for camps all the way up until Spring Training, when they move to Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs (about 90 minutes away). Yes. Carolina Crown also typically had more marchers from the state of Massachusetts than has the Boston Crusaders from Massachusetts. This is because of a staff member's afiliation with the Umass Minuteman Marching Band. The Garfield Cadets from Garfield New Jersey almost folded in 81 or 82 I believe it was, until they secured a last minute large influx of band members afiliated with the Univ. of Mississippi Marching Band. The 27th Lancers were able to keep afloat another year of two wehen a Corps from Ohio folded and quite a large number moved to Massachusetts to march with them.....Corps really are International these days now. As for practice, Boston typically spends May in New England practicing, and then a few days again in Boston ( Quincy ) before moving out on tour. This year, Boston won't be in New England at all before tour commences , as their camp right before tour will be out in California. California, like Florida, is warm and conducive to providing a world class Corps competing in Drum Corps INTERNATIONAL circuit the maximum opportunities for both its fans, staff and many of its fans. The days where all the Corps get the overwhelming majority of their marchers and staff from the city or town they are from has come and gone. Corps today generally call " home " where they fundraise the most, and where thet get the most funds from to run their Corps. And that makes modern day sense now too, imo. BRASSO
1980, actually. Thanks. I knew the Garfield Cadets from Garfield, NJ at the time were struggling both financially and competitively. But the influx of marchers afiliated with the Univ. of Mississippi Marching Band really gave this Corps a real boast when it really needed it and looked like the Corps might be on the ropes. Thankfully these out of state marchers came forth and helped turn this Corps around. The Garfield Cadets had some great years in the 50's and 60's, but had fallen competitively a bit for quite awhile there in the 70's ( As the Boston Crusaders likewise did... another Drum Corps that was great during periods of the 50's and 60's, but then struggled in the early years of DCI ) The Garfield Cadets used that influx of out of state marchers in 1980 as a springboard, and by 1984 they went right to the top of DCI... and essentially from that point on, The Cadets never looked back.
