  1. You said it all, DrumManTX. I agree with you 100%. The Oregon Crusaders were most impressive from where I sat. Quite competitive as well, as we all know. Another corps I wish all the success in the world for 2013! Go for it!!
  2. Judging by what I have read on the pages of DCP, with the new additions to the Troopers staff, I expect them to be very competitive in 2013. I wish the Trooper members and staff all the success in the world for next summer.
  3. I have it on good authority, as well as past history, that there will be no changes with our staff for 2013. After taking this summer off for personal reasons, I have decided to return to my corps next year. I probably will have to audition but I have no fears as I was a strong lead with the corps in the past. I am also looking forward to a very rewarding season in 2013 and I wish all my fellow corps members in other units much success as well!
  4. I seriously dobt the NFL is about to forgo the millions, perhaps billions, of revenue dollars go by the wayside. I believe as long as their are humans still living on earth, there will always be major league football. So no need to worry about the possibility of the end of drum corps should this sport ever cease to exist. Just my two cents worth.
  5. I seriously dobut many, if any, foreign corps would pose a major threat to very few of the DCI Top 23. Granted, some of these corps from outside the U.S. are quite impressive and march and sound like an American corps. However, once on the field of competition it would show a major difference between the corps score wise. And yes, Japan would probably lead the pack with the UK a close second. Beyond that..........
  6. I would like to know why random political ads appear on the forum pages of DCP? I thought all forms of political messages, ads, etc was banned from these pages? I personally find some of these ads offensive. I further ask the powers that be in DCP to stop these one sides ads immediately. This site should remain politically neutral and feature no ads from either party.
  7. In my HS band we had several girls who had really long hair. It always made me cringe when they let that long hair hang down from under their shakos. It looked liked hell. I tried to convince them to wear their hair up under their shako. A lot of good that did. Those girls with that long, stringy hair hanging out of their shakos made all 200 of us in the band look like a bunch of band geeks and goofs. Thinking about it makes we want to puke.
  8. I would have to say it was my rookie year back in '08. We were on our Nationals Tour. I think it was somewhere New Jersey, or was it MA., that I came down with strepth (sp) throat. The hospital ER wanted to keep me over night. Problem was we were leaving that night after the show for another long, long drive to another far away state. I remember that long bus ride during a driving rain storm. Talk about bad luck. Our buses were almost brand new but for some reason my window seat had a leak. Drip, drip, drip all night. Soggy pillow and all. Bening a rookie I didn't want to complain. I didn't dare. Anyway, I don't remember ever being so miserable. After a few days and massive doses of antibiotic, I was back rehearsing and competing with the corps after a few days. That episode I will always remember.
  9. Even though CC was one of our very top competitors, I loved their 2012 program. Every time I saw them I got goose bumps. A fantastic corps and a fantastic horn line.
  10. All this talk about the Cavaliers being in trouble is absurd. Even the best corps has an "off" season now and then. To say the Cavaliers were in trouble by placing as high as they did in finals is just plain silly. Many corps would love to wind up in finals as high as the Cavaliers did. I am certain they will be back in top form by next summer with a very competitive as well as entertaining show as always.
  11. Absolutely correct, BlueBYYou2000. It also means they won their 15th World Championship Title. What else needs to be said except congratulations BD on a great season and a job well done!!
  12. If this information is correct I couldn't be happier for the Troopers. They were somewhat of a disappointment this summer, especially program wise. I know with the proper changes and adjustments they will bounce back much stronger next summer. Hopefully they will go back to their original classic Trooper uniforms as well as their western roots. Good luck to them. We all wish them continued success!
  13. Based on recent scores listed on the DCI website as well as reviews I have read on various other sites, I would have to agree with PR ROCKS'100%. Maybe next year? Hang in there Pioneers! By the way, I think it's BD all the way again come August 11th!!! CC will probably be a very close second. Good luck to all!
  14. Not naming names but in a few extreme cases, I would substitute the word "complex" with "boring."
  15. We have a group of ex drum corps members and fans who will be attending this show at the Pleasant Hill Downtown on Crescent Drive in Pleasant Hill, CA. This will be my first theater showing as, up until this summer, I was a marching member. I have 3 years left to march. If nothing else I will march my age out year with my own corps.
  16. Couldn't be farther from the truth. The area the Bentley owner and I live in is a very exclusive area. Homes out here start at one million and upwards of five million plus. Not exactly a PVC house, whatever that is.
  17. Sorry to disappoint, however, it is a California license plate. And no, there were no fuzzy dice or calf skin seat covers. I found out the neighbor with the Bentley is a commercial developer. He owns lots of property in and around Northern and Southern CA. Why is everyone so bent out of shape over someone placing a BD bumper sticker on their car? They just peel off when you remove them leaving no damage to the vehicle. I think some people are just jealous. My dad drives a 2011 BMW 500 Series and yes I put a drum corps sticker on his bumper. Geeze!
  18. We have these new neighbors who just moved in three doors down the street. I couldn't help but notice they had a brand new Bentley. Upon closer inspection I noticed a BD bumper sticker and a BD license plate frame. Pretty cool stuff on a very cool and very expen$ive car. Talk about a small world!
  19. One thing I do NOT like about this year's Troopers is their choice of a new uniform. It's downright ugly. It reminds me of a teaterical costume. Why on earth would they even think of changing that classic Trooper uniform? Also, I wish they would go back to their western roots musically. The "old Troopers,"from the music to the drill, were always exciting. Even when they weren't that competitive. By the way, I have always been a Trooper fan and remain so.
  20. Of course it's always a major tragedy to lose any corps. It is especially difficult for the entire activity to lose a corps the caliber of Teal Sound. Losing them in midseason is even more difficult for everyone involved, especially the membership and staff. I know I speak for the entire drum corps activity when I extend our best wishes for a speedy return to the field of competition. Our hearts are with you, Teal Sound. God speed!
  21. Congratulations, SOA! I saw an early season video of them on line. I thought to myself "this SOA corps is going places this summer." I am very pleased I was correct. May Spirit succeed even beyond their wildest dreams come Indy! Solid Top 10 placement!
  22. It seems to me it is difficult for even the top WC corps to be able to field the current limit of 150 members. To go beyond that, in my estimation, would not be a viable option. 150 marching members seems to work just fine. Just my two cents worth.
  23. This also pertains to a certain drum corps and it's status as a World Class unit. I just received an email from a dc friend of mine. He mentioned a certain WC corps he saw over the week end. According to him this corps was marching a horn line of 20 members total. He also questioned whether or not they deserved their current status as a WC corps. For obvious reasons I am not naming this corps. All I will say is that they are not a West Coast unit. I know that most corps face an off season now and then. Problem is this corps has been on a sort of downward spiral for a number of years now. Living on the West Coast, all the information I receive on this group are emails from friends of mine. Therefor I can not guarantee any of this information is 100% accurate. Your thoughts on this situation?
  24. I will be there tonight. Looking forward to seeing my ex corps compete. It's going to feel very strange to see them on the field and not be a part of this year's corps. To think I spent three years with them. I still have two years left but I decided a good college is far more important then marching drum corps. I wish them well regardless.
