Harmonious Cacophony
Wasn't Phantom's '89 ballad a jazzy rendition of the New World's second movement?

Jazzycat1
Dvorak was all about experimenting with new musical styles when he came to America. I think he'd be cool with it. I completely Agree - I actually loved that show. Maybe just another attempt to flame a corps that rarely gets flamed?

The Nagging Cough!
You need to stop making threads, this we all believe. I'm late to the party here, but this is as big a home run as I've ever seen on this board. Hats off, Internet Warrior.
prodigal bari
Does anyone feel that they completely disrespected New World Symphony with their arrangements of it?If Dvorak were still alive I believe he would be angered by their display. Somebody must have been underloved during their childhood.

lol_@_u
I looked up the propaganda from that year and wasn't the point of the show to be exactly what you think is wrong? The point of the show, from what I could gather is "What would Dvorak write if he were in America today?" It's not like they just picked a random classical staple and then messed with it. There was a purpose to the modifications and as far as I can tell, it was done with respect to the composers style and wishes.
