  1. To beat the heat (pun) discussion a bit more, the local weather people here in OKC are losing their mind over how many days in a row it'll be over 100. Like tornado season losing their mind. The main power supplier in OKC has a deal where your KWH rate is half between 7pm and 2pm the next day. Make your house into a meat locker until 2pm, and grind it out to 7 when everyone's air kicks on and the lights dim Green Mile style 🙂 For those that are local to the BA area ... do we know what the policy is on bringing our own water bottles into the stadium? The few shows we have here in Oklahoma, the policy varies wildly. IIRC the last show in BA sold the water for a buck, but that could be wishful thinking but that will determine how soon I think a lot of us file into the stadium. Thanks and safe travels everyone!
  2. For those of us who can't make it tonight, I know someone said it's not going to be on the fan network, but any news of it being released on DVD/Blu-Ray? I can't imagine all the production value they are putting into it only being shown one night ....
  3. As you seem to be in the know about the Glassmen Dean(and anyone else of course), do you think that the scores from earlier seasons are skewed due to the fact that most of those earlier shows in their 5th place days were judged with a full panel of judges or at very least, with field judges? And do corps in general recognize anniversaries of major shows like sports teams do? I.E. Would the Glassmen have some sort of notice/recognition for the 10 year anniversary of their 5th place corps? Just wondering. You see it a lot at sporting events, especially minor league (not that DCI is minor league) where it'll be the 10 anniversary of the championship team or whatever. Just thinking out loud on 3rd shift. Sorry
  4. I think I saw a press release saying he was on the staff but i've also seen him on a few other staff lists as well (Boston comes to mind). Isn't the brass staff at Spirit the brass staff that was at Glassmen last year (or the year before)? My details could be off .....
  5. I got some under the "Toledoshows" mailing list. There's an unsubscribe link at the very bottom. As i'm nowhere near Toledo anymore ... it's not essential for me. From looking at their website, it seems they may be having database problems. There's a plea to register as alumni on the website, usually means some data loss but I could be wrong. That could be the cause, but good luck!
  6. Without causing a war, it'd be interesting to go back to one of those "Staff changes 2008" thread that were all over the board at the beginning of the season and track the changes.
  7. This might be the wrong forum, but does anyone know if the Glassmen are doing the encore on Monday night in Toledo? Or would it be Phantom. Just curious as I was thinking of making the drive up from IN. Thanks!!
  8. It did seem better than the afternoon, but they always say that last impression is what the judges remember and having the volume go up about 20 levels (Ok .. more like 4 or 5) as soon as they stop running on the last chord is the impression I remember. I'm sure they'll be fine.
  9. Looks like good ol JJ Pipitone almost stepped on a soprano during the "Body" work during the drum feature. Yikes!
  10. I just think everyone is going to freak out when the field judge come into play. While most people agree the "big points" are in GE, if you are a mess on the field ... it's going to be an issue. I think there are corps out there that could swing 5 or 6 points (really) when the field judges come back .. but I could be wrong.
  11. Good ! I thought it was my feed for a minute ...
  12. Does anyone know why it wasn't at the Glass Bowl? I drove in from Ft. Wayne and knew it was at that high school but I swung by UT to see if anyone was rehearsing there anyway. Without actually stepping on the field, I really didn't see much that would have stopped a show from going on. Maybe it was underneath or something. It looked like the basketball arena on the hill there (not sure how else to describe it) was under major renovations but it didn't seem to effect the stadium. Does anyone have any news or pictures of what was going on there?
  13. I sat behind some parents at the toledo show and by eavesdropping on their conversation (they seemed to be in the know but take it for what it's worth) Waymire got rid of the staff from before when he was in there, brought in his staff from Madison, then was gone after one year. Most of the staff is new this year. But I could be wrong. Does anyone know for sure?
  14. After watching the webcast, I was sure that Blue Stars were in the night show. I think Glassmen are going to get the bump. They just don't seem to have improved as much as everyone else. While there are some noticeable differences (The drill seems less hectic, the sitting down portion), there doesn't seem to be that much added to the music book to keep up. Visually, they've got lots of effect, with the guard, the shields at the end, but the music I think is lacking some of the , pardon the obvious reference, pizzaz, that some of the corps that are fighting to get in have. But as always, like my predictions in the past, i'm sure i'll be wrong.
  15. You could have been sitting behind ANY member of ANY corps at that night. It really isn't viable to single out Spirit.
