cabalumnidrummer
Don, I think Genero kicked over the high drum trophy in D.C. in '66 (and maybe the horn trophy too!), but not the 'Golden Drum.' In the same DCNews issue, there's a photo of Ralph Silverbrand on retreat with the awards, and the gold drum is on the ground in front of him. I'm pretty sure it was awarded to the National Champion, not the high drum section winner. I know we have at least one in the trophy case in Hawthorne. I'll take a closer look next week to see what it says.

You may very well have taken high drums in '72 Don, but of course, you also were the National Champs! And by the way, if you recall, wasn't that a heavy sucker? It looks like a real drum, but it's really just a mock-up, and heavy as can be. I will take a look this weekend and get back to you. I know we lost to the Hurcs at he Nationals in Boston in '67, but took high drums that night. I don't recall a gold drum then, just a trophy and a somewhat satisfied feeling, despite the loss. cabalumnidrummer
Thanks for the written proof, Tony. Sky with high drums is not a big surprise. Mike Siglow was right again, saying it had to be tight between Hurcs and Sky. (What a curse to live with, eh, Mike!) There you go, Nanci. Do you win your bet?
