SynthLine09 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Don't ask me how I came up with this idea, because I honestly could not tell you. But lets say you had a time machine. You go back in time to the days of Bach, but with you you bring a modern day drum corps with you. For this example we'll use Vanguard 2002, as there aren't really any modern historical or cultural references and it is a fairly simple concept to understand. How do you think people back in the day of baroque and classical nonsense would react to a modern day drum corps show? Personally I think it would be hilarious to see how a group of armed forces from the civil war days would react to seeing something like Star 91's drill performed. Additional points of discussion: how do you think they would react to modern symphonic music? If you had a time machine and could go back ad march one show what would it be and whay? Quote
Lance Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I'd want to bring the 05 Glassmen to Dvorak and see what he thought. Armed forces from the Civil Wars days would be at the concession stands feeding their starved bodies. I'd want to march Star 90. Quote
Baritone13 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 i don't think they would understand what was going on and wouldn't enjoy it. especially if there were G bugles invovled. as for modern symphonic music i think they would probably approve of some of it, but would call musical theater the work of the devil and as for a show, id have to go with Velvet Knights 92 Quote
kaplac Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I'd take any phantom show, and show them to the composers of the source music. Quote
CoHmempho04 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 It's too short. Why are they moving all the time? They could do a lot more if they just stay still! That musical phrase is too short, why is it only 16 measure? Why is it so loud? Where is the string section? I like strings because they don't go so loud! This is the music of the poor, why are they all wearing the same thing? Where are their wigs? I don't like this, it's too loud for my taste! Something of that sort would go on Quote
SynthLine09 Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 Haha, I would have to agree on the "that musical phrase is too short, why is it only 16 measures?" Quote
Hrothgar15 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Haha, I would have to agree on the "that musical phrase is too short, why is it only 16 measures?" Please, we're lucky if we get 4 in today's shows... Quote
Stryfe Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I'd travel back in time and show Cavaliers 06 to its composer. [TIME PARADOX] Quote
SynthLine09 Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 Please, we're lucky if we get 4 in today's shows... I'd say Carolina Crown would be the exception to that, especially last year. But they do have a much more literal take on music than most corps. Quote
kickhaltsforlife Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I'd take crossmen back for them to perform their past two shows... I don't know what time... but whatever time their going to want to know where he gets his stuff.. if ya know what i mean...... but yeah, bring it back to the middle ages... and then music will probably stop existing after that.
