  1. I'm just saying--if you're going to promote something as a "tournament of champions", all the corps should have been a past DCI champion. Bluecoats have never won any class at DCI. Putting corps like Mandarins, Academy, Pioneer, Madison and Cascades into the "tournament" and omitting Bluecoats from it would make the promotion accurate and legit.
  2. #6 hands down. I watched the montage of the corps during finals week on DCI's website. I saw a corps member playing guitar. That was the final dagger.
  3. It's parity..parody is making fun of something...Parity is everyone is equal, no one wins, no one loses, all is bliss, everyone has a puppy dog and a kitten, bunny rabbits frolic in their yards and we all can slide down rainbows. Lee is signaling out the Bucs. This is about his corps and his inability to make it win. A few years Lee said he would fold Renegades when they win DCA. Maybe it's time to see if he'll keep that promise.
  4. I liked what you originally wrote. What's really going on here? People aren't going all goo goo and ga ga and drooling over Renegades anymore and Lee can't handle that. The novelty of "7" and "Evil" has died.
  5. oh ok....but there was doubt in the stands no doubt. 2001 I think when it was a tenth of a point between Brigs and Bucs after Brigs were blowing everyone away?
  6. Now if it were Stealthmen winning every year and......well..let's just say if a proposal like this were adopted, it wouldn't be a good day for the known universe and numerous other dimensions.
  7. The design team, caption heads and two members from each section of the first place open class corps will swap with the same from the last place class A corps for the next season. After twenty or so years, everyone should be back where they started. All in the name of everyone is equal and everyone is happy. For example-- Bucs staff etc and Excelsior Minnesota Brass staff, etc and Shenandoah Sound Empire and Cincinnati Hurricanes and High Country Brass Cabs and White Sabers Kidsgrove omitted Alliance and SoCal Corps Vets and Sun Devils Bushwackers and Vigilantes Renegades (Lee not included) and Govenaires Kilties and Carolina Gold Fusion Core and Grenadiers
  8. Why is it called Tournament of Champions when Bluecoats have zero DCI titles?
  9. I was there for your classic announcer moment--when you thanked the Stealthmen!
  10. Which is why there will never be a corps from Kewascum
  11. I would think more people would attend, simply to be part of history when "corps X" finally does lose, whether it's at DCA or one of the shows during the season.
  12. Good ones! There is nothing wrong for the same corps to win consecutive titles, no matter how long the stretch is. If you're the best, then you're the best. It's up to everyone else to figure out how to beat them. I think this is more because Lee is irked that everybody and their mothers aren't going all ga ga and drooling over his corps like they use to. The novelty of "7" and "Evil" has died and Lee can't handle that.
  13. Didn't the same thing happen at Danny Thomas or World Open that got a picture in Drum Corps News back then?
  14. I think it was actually.....not sure though, but it could have been.
  15. In 1970, after they won VFW Nationals, the Troopers did half time at a Viking's game. The network showed the entire performance. One of the announcers, impressed by how good they were, actually said "they must practice one hour a day, 365 days a year!"
  16. I thought the thread of the title was the announcement of Hoppy's autobiographical show.
  17. But the one's you liked were the wrong ones!
  18. The next time a corps plays "Caravan," what would impress me is an actual caravan, complete with camels, donkeys plus lion and leopard attacks and a raid from Ali Baba and the forty theives.
  19. My first contest with Northernaires.....
  20. We actually hated you guys....but pretended to like yous so we could drink your beer.
  21. Now that is funny! There was one I heard from someone who was at a Skyliners party after DCA one of the years Cabs won. A guy from Sky was watching the Jerry Lewis telethon. A small group stood around him...he said watch this. The local portion came on and thanked the World Champion Hawthorne Caballeros for their pledge of x amount of $$. They said oh cool..that was really good of them. The guy from Sky said--I did that!
  22. Pinole Princemen?? There's one that has California state VFW being held in Milwaukee.
