  1. In 92, the Freelancers beat Glassmen for 12th place at Semis. We beat them by .10 after battling with them neck and neck for several weeks. After our performance, we all went down to the tunnel to hear the score and the Glassmen were all ther too... When the scores were announced, they did not get mad, they didn't cry... no. Instead, they ALL shook our hands, congratulated us and wished us luck at Finals... On Saturday night, they were actually one of our biggest cheering sections. I will never forget that and wish that organisation all the luck in the world moving forward.
  2. Right... let me make this perfectly clear.... HOMOPHOBIC REMARKS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM IN THIS THREAD... There has already been at least two cleanup session on this thread and there won't be a third. Now please... feel free to carry on discussing uniforms.
  3. Or perhaps you are all over analysing the dang thing... Perhaps it's just a square piece of chrome covered plastic that reflects light better than the eagle that was on there before!
  4. Please... For the love of all that is holy let this really be the new (old) Madison Scouts uniform... If in fact it is... don't EVER change it again!
  5. Every year in Freelancers... 1st show of 2nd tour was almost always Ogden UT.... Every year... the cops showed up. Got to be such a regular occurence that one year we passed around a coffee can with a sign attached to it that read.. "John Zimny Bail Fund"
  6. Meh... Better than last year (By a country mile) but by no means great... although far from bad as well. All that detail on that uniform will be completely washed out from anything further than 10 yards away.
  7. To be fair... I reckon there will be 3 distinct groupings this year without much between the individual corps (or the groupings for that matter) 1-5... In the high 90's 6-10.. In the low 90's 11-14.. High 80's I don't honestly see there being more than a 10 point spread between 1-12th. Corps these days are of such a high quality it's really hard to judge them. Last years 12th place corps would have easily been top 5 in my day.
  8. I'm calling it now... 1. Bluecoats... Everyone writing them off and I simply don't know why... Same design staff... many returning performers and same leadership corps... they are winning the lot! 2. Crown 3. Blue Devils... yeah I did it... 3rd. 4. Santa Clara 5. Cadets 6. Cavaliers 7. Blue Knights 8. Phantom Regiment 9. Crossmen 10. Boston 11. Madison 12. Colts --------------------------------- 13. Blue Stars 14. Troopers 15. Oregon Crusaders 16. Pacific Crest 17. BDB 18. Spirit
  9. Kanstul horns are nice... I got to meet Ziggy back in the early 90's... real craftsman... All the horns were handmade and I believe for the most part still are to this day.
  10. As Spring Trainings have now begun, we should start getting images of new threads.. as such, figured I'd bump this.
  11. Hi... Living in the UK, I struggle to get good merch and would gladly have these with much appreciation... Will gladly pay the shipping costs.
  12. I frickin LOVE Fly To Paradise... outside of Lux Arumque, it easily my favorite Eric Whitacre piece.
  13. Who's up next? Since nobody has nominated our next victim...er... I mean CORPS... I nominate... 27th Lancers
  14. The Company... Fantastic drum corps. Notice I did not say European corps, or little drum corps or any other word that would lessen what they are... simply a fantastic drum corps. Additionally, their members and staff are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
  15. Just to keep this bus on the road we have been travelling... last one nominated was... BLUE DEVILS B
  16. My thread my rules so: Yes, we can nominate a corps more than once, however if you provided the hit and miss the last time, it needs to someone else's take this time around. SO.... Bones The Hit: The easy choice would be the early 90's look. Quintessentially Bones. 1992 is one of my favorite drum corps shows ever... period. That said, for the hit, I am gonna actually go with 2014. Absolutely LOVE this uniform: And the miss... 1996 Great corps but what the heck were they thinking with this look? BORING tops and shakos. I mean... SHAKOS? Really? Up next... BLUE DEVILS B
  17. The Hit: Current uniforms. Not really happy with the new proposed uniforms that will complete the "Blue Devil Feeder Corps" look. The Miss: 1998... Just nothing to this... to be fair, they had yet to make their visual identity. They were still a brand new corps, but still, not a good look. Next up... Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets
  18. Yeah... Suncoast pretty much never changed... I agree... let's do the SEATTLE CASCADES
  19. I agree... the grey for me was very meh... The red plumes... LOVE THEM. In case you weren't aware, Blue stars historically have worn red plumes: It's only since 2007 that they went away from them.
  20. Anyways... I believe we are now on Magic... The Hit... For me this is an absolute dead heat between 1990 and 1994: The Miss? Probably their most "professional" look (and also tame and boring....) Next up... BLUE STARS
  21. See now... this to me is the problem that I always had with Hutch... who were they? To me, they were a great corps you just couldn't put into any one particular box. You think of other corps of that era... SCV, Devs, Phantom, Garfield, Cavies, Freelancers, Suncoast Sound, 27, Bridgemen, Troopers, Star of Indiana (good lord how many of that list is now folded)... they all had instantly describable looks, but you could just never say that about Sky Ryders. Truly a chameleon corps.
