  1. Why is it that when all these "no longer with us" lists come out, Freelancers almost ALWAYS gets left off the list? Were we really THAT insignificant on the DCI dead corps radars? Sorry, I just find it really annoying.
  2. Star 91.. The WHOLE show Star 93.. Dance of Vengeance Freelancers 91.. Dance Suite
  3. You know Lee, every time I want to not like you, you come out with posts like these! You and your Renegades organization are a class act from top to bottom. My hats off to you, and on behalf of the Cheshire Cadets (DCUK) all the best for Jester.

  5. Please do not use the General forum to advertise your ebay auctions. We do have a marketplace forum that you are more than welcome to use. Moving this there...
  6. Mate, You are completely misunderstanding me. I am not looking for a war with you. That was never my intention. That said, the simple fact of the matter is that whilst you have two cadet corps, you are not fielding the "big corps". The reasons you are not fielding the "big corps" are in no way, shape or form the fault of DCUK> My original post was intended to show notabando that his argument was without substance. It was never meant as a dig at Cadence. Heck, I thought you guys should have WON finals last year. You had without a shadow of a doubt my favorite show in open class. Why would I slight you? I am only sad that your corps powers that be have taken the decision not to field rather than to field with younger kids. Trust me, it CAN be done. If I offended you or your corps, it was NOT my intention and as such, I apologize.
  7. Yes, it is in reference to Cadence, and, NO it is not intended as a "dig". Whilst I personally (note: this is NOT necessarily the opinion of my corps) disagree with the reason that Cadence has decided to go inactive, I was trying to illustrate that what happened with Cadence is in no way the fault of DCUK. Blaming DCUK, DCI or DCWhoever for the demise of individual corps is in more cases than not, simply ridiculous and uninformed.
  8. How is this DCUK's fault? I am a DCUK A Class corps staffer and we are doing just fine thank you. If corps would quit folding for stupid reasons, THAT would help. So lets use the example of a corps that we shall leave nameless. They dont actively recruit. Their older members just keep getting older and rather than bring the younger ones up through the ranks from their cadet corps, the Open Class corps gets smaller and smaller to the point where it is no longer viable to field them. So what do they do? Fold. Bad decision. Bad for the corps and bad for the DCUKactivity as a whole, but I still fail to see how this is in any way the fault of DCUK! Do YOU know John Boyington? What exactly have YOU done to make the activity stronger today? Rather than call someone childish names and levy blame at a blameless organisation, why dont YOU get off your rear end and DO SOMETHING about it!
  9. 1983 -- Best Freelancers show EVER! That contra line was out of this world.
  10. I can tell you that the saluting drum major is none other than Paul Zimny of the Freelancers!
  11. As I have been unable to (as yet) register my 2 corps in DCPI, I have entered them in FDCI 20. The corps are the Sacramento Flearanchers in DI and in DII I have their feeder corps, The Ticks. That said, I would happily consider running them in two circuits if I can ever get into DCPI.
  12. Ahhh, good old Charlie. Wonder whatever happened to him? Anybody know?
  13. I lost a good portion of my Freelancers moentos a few years back in a burglary, Any pics of my old corps would be most appreciated.
  14. This has absolutely nothing to do with drum corps. Closed.
  15. Sorry but we DO have Bi-weekly Discos at the corps hall!
  16. Well, I can say that my corps basically lives on ottery Grants (which dont amount to muche believe me). Other than that the members pay dues of £2 per week and staff £1 per week. We have a £10 uniform fee and a £10 DCUK registration fee. We do a few local parades and 6 DCUK shows per year (There are 7 total DCUK contests on the schedule). All of our equipment is very old (our battery is no joke about 7-10 years old) but we make do with what we have. That said, if anyone knows where I could source a cheap battery I am all ears!
  17. DCUK is always an option as well. Flights from Brussels are not that expensive (round trip tickets to the UK from Belgium can be found for as little as 30 Euros on Ryanair and easyJet.
  18. Once again... Yet ANOTHER post / poll omitting the Freelancers <**> <**>
  19. some nice ones to be found on the Troopers web site. Especially check out 75 and 86!
  20. John Zimny- John was my drum corps daddy. He had a way about him that was just cool. And, he wrote some great arrangements. For someone who's own dad was not really there for me at that time in my life, JZ was and I appreciate that to this day. Richie Hodge- Richie "Dolphin" Hodge was a master at cleaning. He was one of the most understated and low key guys I ever met, but he really knew his stuff. Chris Nalls- Or as I knew him back in the day, Mr Hype. He actually made us a really loud hornline in 91 and 92. I always enjoyed a Chris Nalls brass sectional or ensemble rehersal! The energy the guy displayed (weird toes and all) was simply through the roof!
  21. This one is no contest... Geneseo Knights all the way baby!! 1982 is the show that made me do drum corps. It was such an in your face aggresive show, I just HAD to march myself!!
