What drives DCI World Class?
Drillwatcher replied to thirdcoast's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
STAFF AND DIRECTOR EGOS -
Not sure Crown's percussion issues have as much to do with the staff as it does with staging issues and lack of room in the brass book to integrate to percussion music with out creating mud.
-
After watching prelims it is obvious some people need to make some changes. Most noticeable was Kilties. The show lacked direction and was very slow to develop in places. The guard seemed to be stronger than most of the corps and they suffered, like the rest of the corps from bad staging. I hope this organisation which once produced great programs can make the changes necessary to become more competitive. Looks like a need for a coordinator and a drill designer with a stronger grasp of staging.

I think the Hill comments were wishful thinking
-
Based on Regiment last couple of years not sure that is a great solution
-
As you can but I felt the drill design was a HUGE weakness for Scouts
-
yet the weakest link remains
-
Board I would think hired him and they should of said no. Cost vs benefit certainly did not add up. Howeverif someone cares about a group beyond a paycheck......
-
I believe you are correct about Salas being a big part. Just check their non profit report as to what he was paid! Unfortunately the board who went along with it without having the money and not replacing the lost bingo income is every bit as much responsible.
-
Does anyone know if they have gone through the bankruptcy? Any chance for a rebirth?
-
Troopers are in need of a visual change as well. Guard seemed better this year but the drill seemed underwhelming. Large part of why they were 14th..
-
Seems like everyone at Scouts except the ones who need to resign are going like guard and driil....
-
Too bad about Mason leaving Scouts. Hopefully they make complete changes in visual design and get a hands on coordinator that understands how to score. Also look at how arrangements are done. Seemed very segmented. As soon as something started to develop it was gone.
-
My thoughts where changes need to made; DCI - replace the visual caption people and get Cesario away from having judging influence Troopers - New visual designer and coordinator Scouts - the same plus guard staff Phantom - New brass arranger, maybe visual designer Spirit - new coordinator or more hands on Pioneer - new visual and music designers, hands on coordinator

So who are all the WGI people judging the next 3 days?

Judging system/score sheets
Drillwatcher replied to JustinDMoore's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Manchester scores are a travesty. Unless Spartans and 7th Regiment are the 14th best corps and Legends are ahead of Mandarins, the scores are wrong. Lack of leadership in the judging administration time to change. Unfortunately all those corps will now have to take backwards steps at the next show they do. -
Each judge gets their full 20 points in those situations. Corps jumped 10-15 points. Judges either were not realizing they are on world sheets or they have some number issues. The numbers should be range wise with the San Antonio scores. I doubt the Mandarin is behing Legends and several more behind the top 2. Racine Scouts have been considerably farther behind Genesis at shows they both were at. The judging administration should take responsibility for either poor training or poor communication. Time for a change.

Gone are the days......

Sub caption ties are a non-decision. You must be a drum judge from this season..... -
Again people demonstrate if they have nothing intelligent to add they will start making jokes or go off topic. They have drugs to treat ADD.

I believe looking at all the ties, both sub caption and overall caption, the number of .1 differences suggest the judging is not very good. New people wish to stay around so they will do the status quo. You can see what has happened to people who do make decisions lately. Change the leadership and it will be a start. -
Any question on excessive WGI influence?
