  5. After a few seasons of inactivity, we are pleased to announce the return of The Sinfonians Alumni Corps (SAC) to the DCPI CLASS ACT competition field. Hailing from Evansville, IN, the corps serves as a means for aged-out collegiate and alumni brothers to come together and advance music in America through drum and bugle corps. This season, we're ready to show that we may be older, but we can still rock the house... Featuring music from Kansas, Chicago, and Boston, we present our Season VIII production The All-American Rockin' Roadshow Opening with Kansas' megahit from 1976 Carry On Wayward Son, The SAC comes firing out of the gate with the chart toppers made famous by bands with geographical names. For our second production, we throw a little jazz into the equation saluting the great horn bands of the 1970s with Chicago's hit Free.Next we slow it down for one of the greatest rock ballads of all times, Kansas' immortal hit from 1977 Dust In The Wind. Our closer has a double feature with not one but two great hits from the New England rock band Boston with 1976's Peace of Mind and 1978's Don't Look Back. We hope you enjoy this jaunt across the U.S. in Rock music. See you on the road... Schedule: July 21st Lynn MA August 4 Madison WI August 11 Atlanta GA August 18 Orlando FL August 25 Murfreesburo TN Sept 1 Prelimns Annapolis MD Sept 2 Finals Annapolis MD Uniforms: Modeled after a business suit, we feel our uniforms say "We're serious, but we're here to party..." (or in our case rock!)

  10. Not to be "that guy" but would it be possible for those of us who have Teal Sound for some captions be allowed to do a second caption change in a 7 day period following this announcement??
  11. Are we on generated scores or real scores at this point? (keeping in mind THREE of the corps I have for captions haven't had a show yet... <_<)
  12. Being from WV, I obviously dig the "Hatfields & McCoys" show! Welcome, and best of luck!
  13. Fielding for the first time and hailing from Charlotte, NC, we are proud to represent the Carolinas in DCPI competition! For our first season, we thought it was more than appropriate to pay homage to our home state. We are proud to bring you A Carolina Symphony as our Season 18 production! Mvt. I – We begin our show with a fanfare and variations based upon themes from “Carolina in the Morning” and “Carolina In My Mind” Mvt. II – Our second movement salutes the rich folk music tradition of the Carolinas with Donald Grantham’s “Exhilaration,” the third movement from his “Southern Harmony.” Mvt. III – We take it down a notch for the third movement to pause and remember just how beautiful the Carolinas truly are with the opening strains of the barbershop classic “Carolina I’m Coming Back To You” before transitioning into the immortal James Taylor hit “Carolina In My Mind.” Mvt. IV – Our show closes with a tribute to Carolina’s sea legacy, and the bloodthirsty pirates that found shelter in her rivers and outerbanks with music from “Pirates of the Caribbean!” We hope you will enjoy our first DCPI production, A Carolina Symphony! 14. They may or may not have inspired the show... Except our guard will not be riding bicycles.
  15. We’ve all seen the Wizard of Oz, and we’ve saw every side of Oz there is. Until now… When music from “The Wizard of Oz” meets “Wicked”, Bernstein’s Symphony No. 1 – “Jeremiah”, Verdi’s “Requiem”, and Sarah Bareilles you get our Season 18 production, ZO! Opening with the Main Title from “Wizard of Oz” and Nobody Mourns the Wicked from “Wicked”, we are introduced to “D.G.” and “The Witch” as they establish the rivalry. D.G. is left alone in a “strange new world” she is directed to go speak with “The Wizard” (You’re Off to See The Wizard from “The Wizard of Oz”.) Along her way she meets “Scare A. Crow”, “T. Tin Man”, and “Howard the Cowardly Lion” (If I Only Had A Brain from “The Wizard of Oz”.) Our quartet arrives in the Emerald City, but to their dismay “The Wizard” refuses their audience. D.G. finds herself feeling homesick, and begins to cry (Kaleidoscope Heart / Over the Rainbow from “The Wizard of Oz”.) “The Wizard” hears her dismay and tells her if she can defeat “The Witch” he will send her home. D.G. and her friends set off to find “The Witch” (Symphony No. 1 “Jeremiah”, II, Profanation) when they are attacked by the Witch’s henchmen (Attack of the Winged Monkies from “The Wizard of Oz”) and ultimately find themselves in battle with the sorceress herself (Dies Irae from “Requiem”.) Our heroes are ultimately triumphant (Ding Dong the Witch is Dead from “The Wizard of Oz”) and all is again well, and D.G. is sent home (Over the Rainbow reprise.) But we’re left with the feeling that the story is not quite over… We hope you will enjoy our Season 18 production ZO! Repertoire: Main Theme (from “The Wizard of Oz”) Nobody Mourns the Wicked (from “Wicked”) You’re Off to See The Wizard (from “The Wizard of Oz”) If I Only Had A Brain (from “The Wizard of Oz”) Kaleidoscope Heart Somewhere Over the Rainbow (from “The Wizard of Oz”) Profanation (from Symphony No. 1 – “Jeremiah”) Dies Irae (from “Requiem”) The Attack of the Winged Monkeys (from “The Wizard of Oz”) Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead (from “The Wizard of Oz”) Tour 6.16 – Whitewater, WI 6.18 – Menomonie, WI 6.20 – Akron, OH 6.22 – Battle Creek, MI 6.23 – Muncie, IN 6.25 – Fayetteville, AR 6.28 – Nashville, TN 6.30 – Louisville, KY 7.3 – Bridgeport, CT 7.5 – Bristol, RI 7.7 – Lynn, MA 7.10 – Montclair, NJ 7.11 – Jackson, NJ 7.13 – Annapolis, MD (DCPI East Regionals) 7.17 – Pittsburgh, PA 7.18 – Dayton, OH 7.19 – Rockford, IL 7.20 – Metamora, IL 7.21 – Columbia, MO 7.24 – Bentonville, AR 7.25 – Oklahoma City, OK 7.27 – Fort Worth, TX 7.28 – San Antonio, TX 7.31 – Broken Arrow, OK 8.1 – Wichita, KS 8.3 – Dothan, AL 8.5 – Pascagoula, MS 8.6 – Lafayette, LA 8.7 – Houston, TX 8.9-8.11 – Dallas, TX
  16. “Inspiration may be a form of super-consciousness, or perhaps of subconsciousness—I wouldn’t know. But I am sure it is the antithesis of self-consciousness.” In their Season 18 production, Ohio Valley Thunder brings to life one man’s inspiration. A man who would come to define the “American style” of music, and is revered to this day, 22 years after his death. Drawing from his operas, symphonies, and ballets we are proud to present “Aaron”. Our show begins with one of Copland’s best known works, “The Promise of Living” from the opera “The Tender Land” and move into what has been dubbed “the essential American symphony” with the second and fourth movements of “Symphony No. 3.” Our show comes to an almost abrupt halt as we hear the faint strains from what has become Copland’s most known work, originally titled “Ballet for Martha” close our show with the last three movements of “Appalachian Spring.” We hope you enjoy our Season 18 production “Aaron”. Repertoire: The Promise of Living (from The Tender Land) Allegro Molto (from Symphony No. 3) Molto deliberato (from Symphony No. 3) As at first (Slowly) (from Appalachian Spring) Doppio Moviemento (from Appalachian Spring) Moderato-Coda (from Appalachian Spring) The Aaron Tour 6.15 – Toms River, NJ 6.16 -Willingboro, NJ 6.18 – Downingtown, PA 6.20 – Akron, OH 6.22 – Battle Creek, MI 6.23 – Muncie, IN 6.27 – Crown Point, IN 6.29 – Evansville, IN 6.30 – Louisville, KY 7.2 – Evanston, IL 7.3 – Aurora, IL 7.7 – Madison, WI 7.9 – Waukesha, WI 7.10 – Racine, WI 7.13 – Columbus, OH (DCPI Midwest Regionals) 7.17 – Knoxville, TN 7.19 – Rockford, IL 7.20 – Metamora, IL 7.21 – Columbia, MO 7.24 – Bentonville, AR 7.25 – Oklahoma City, OK 7.28 – Allentown, PA 7.30 – Charleston, WV 7.31 – Richmond, KY 8.1 – Sevierville, TN 8.3 – Dothan, AL 8.5 – Pascagoula, MS 8.6 – Lafayette, LA 8.8 – Dallas, TX (DCPI World Class Prelims) 8.10 – Dallas, TX (DCPI World Class Semifinals) 8.11 – Dallas, TX (DCPI World Class Finals)

  19. I see both sides of the argument here. Side 1: Some people put together some really baller show packages with concepts, posters, uniforms, etc. and it would be cool to recognize them by saying "hey, that was a really great ______ your corps had! gimme some dap dog!" Side 2: Not everyone is going to do that, so in a sense alienating them by adding it in to scores isn't really fair. Matt's Side (): Having someone to "judge" all of this would be difficult with our current "staff", since its essentially Matt. So,in a measure to appease both sides, what if we did something that I'm pretty sure we used to do and that DCI sorta does and present "awards" for things like "Best Show Concept", "Best Show Poster", and "Best Uniforms"? We could open the voting up to all directors, and toward Finals Week either Matt or someone else could start a topic where the award categories are listed and then people submit their votes to that person and then that person tallies the votes and announces the awards before or after the announcement of scores for Finals.
  20. Ohio Valley Thunder released a teaser for their Season 18 production today... Stay tuned for more teasers and an announcement in the following weeks.
  21. Welcome aboard! I really like the show concept! I dig that it ties in the history of the hometown of the corps. (and General William Tecumseh Sherman is one of my favorite Civil War generals... )
  22. Guess this means I won't be bringing my former corps Bluegrass back to life anytime soon.
