  1. well normally the techs have been on tour with the group and out in the sun, and basically in the same conditions as the members.... only they dont have a nice uniform to put on, and personally ive found it a kinda hard to keep a nice crease in my slacks and a crisp collar on my shirts when they are in suitcases being tossed around under a bus.
  2. this is completely ridiculous. first of all... last i checked drumcorps didnt collect race statistics and data, what would be the point? so lets not try to start a debate based on false statistics this guy pulled out of his ear. second of all............................................ who cares? maybe im being progressive, but when did race start to matter in drumcorps? what the hell is he getting at? personally i dont think it makes one bit of difference what race im marching next to. to even try to put on some sort of charade where you think it has something to do with the final product or demographic or overall experience borders on racism. and as long as were making up statistics.... ill bet the nba is 92% black... hockey is 92% canadian or russian, and cricket is 92% indian or english. what do those statistics mean?.... absolutely nothing. ofcourse the race demographic deosnt balance with that of the world.... its the world, idiot, people are not all the same, and not everyone has the same dislikes and likes. to think that DCI or any sport or activity would somehow have a population that is a clear even ratio(or even CLOSE!) to the actual race and culture of any town/city/county/state/country or world even is almost moronic. even if i somehow misread that quote and hes talking about just reaching more people... its still ridiculous. we attract viewers and members because we are what we are. change is good, but to change so far as to become unrecognizable to oneself is suicide and failure at that. remember kids, sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken. drumcorps is what it is. theres plenty of changes and improvements to make that will keep it drumcorps, and without having the kids look like fools. i find it kind of funny and ironic that this guy talks about attracting more people, yet the material him and his staff come up with is almost completely unaccessible and confusing to even the common drumcorps viewer. let alone the channel flipper who surfs by espn 2, sees a strange guy in an angel/bunny suite flopping around on a football field, says "WTF?" and continues surfing. sorry audiodb, i started writing before you posted.
  3. if you think thats what boxing is about you are sadly mistaken. thats why i asked my original question.... if they actually come up with a good show concept that engages some of the deeper and more engaging concepts of boxing it could be sweet. but if they; play some rocky tunes and have the members shadowbox, dress the guard in robes with black eye paint, have a ring announcer yammering during the show, pander to the lowest common denominator for mass acceptance, etc etc... and basically generalize the concept(whitch seems to be what your used to, based on your above statement), i suspect the show will tank faster than lindsay lohan's movie career.
  4. anybody know where the music is coming from? also is this show actually going to have anything to do with boxing? or is it going to be just a catchy title with music from the rocky movies or something? also, im going to be disappointed if their show doesnt have something to do with this
  5. cash rules everything around me, cream! get the money, dolla dolla bill yall...
  6. it never ceases to amaze me how much this forum can really lay on the lame. hey, you with the cellphone... put it down. the answer is yes, you can actually go 3 months without a cellphone. theres plenty of ways to contact your parents or anybody else for that matter. are you marching drumcorps or are you at summer camp? also for those who may wonder, your parents dont have the right to contact you whenever and wherever they feel like it. what are you 12? they can deal with it for 3 months as well. if they, or you, cant handle that.... well then maybe you should stay home and continue to shelter yourself from the real world, and leave the business of winning world titles to all the kids that can think and act for themselves. oh wait you dont want to talk to your fellow mm's? oh well thats fine, nobody's perfect and not everyone has good people skills. just get used to it, because odds are when you get a real job and a life, your going to be surrounded by idiots like me who dont care who you really are "on the inside" and who are really only interested if you can get your job done right. toodles!
  7. the way i heard it. jeff and splooie got in a huge argument. splooie, being all powerful, smote him. spoolie watched from a distance and wept. i kid... but in all seriousness jeff is a machine... a machine capable of teleporting from place to place as long as their are cavaliers in the vicinity, kind of like an agent from the matrix only without actually taking over the persons body. its commonly called "morphing", any cavalier can tell you this. i imagine he has now found his way of the cavalier computer prison don warren put him in years ago to control the cavalier MMs with his highly advanced powers. but now he has escaped... god have mercy on all of drumcorps. hell be morphing everywhere now. run for your lives.
  8. who is the chick with the glasses? that is all
  9. at a TOB indoor show in pittsburgh pa - our indoor line finishes its performance and is in the hall... clueless woman- "are you guys part of the DCI band?"
  10. ummm... the vyper? clearly. if not that... then all the sweet cav drumline visuals from 00-04 ish. playing, visuals, 4duts, playing, visuals, 4 duts, playing, visuals, 4 duts.... etc.
  11. unless i see pics i dont believe you... your just a liar to me... a liar.
  12. you might be missing the point, this is an internet forum. the people here have no professional relationship with each other, essentially this is a water cooler in the middle of a street where people can gather and yak it up. the writing is literally taking place of casual conversation had by acquaintances. i would never play grammar police here or in general conversation, its annoying and not worth the time. i wouldnt expect formal writing in the posts here, and i dont plan on writing any(hence my blatant lack of capitalization and misuse of punctuation). whats posted on DCI's site are actual rule proposals submitted to the DCI board and shared with the general public(fans, sponsors, associates in general). or at least, i am led to believe that. not to mention they deal directly with the fabric of the activity, there is a major difference. when i write to my employer, business associate, customers, etc.... i tend to make my writing or typing as formal and logically sound as possible, i also tend to steer clear of those who cant do it in return. and i am absolutely sure many if not all of you in equal professional situations do the same. alot of those first couple proposals look like they are casual emails written on the fly to a buddy from high school or something. wtf is that supposed to mean?
  13. this is a response to the rule proposals presented on DCI's website, for reference im sure one can easily find a link to them somewhere in this forum. i would like to applaud Brad Furlano(or whoever wrote his submissions), not because in his submissions he has actually taken the time to streamline the smattering of new "additions" to drumcorps by clarifying the grey areas we already have(see the submission on "narration", specifically the second paragraph in purpose; "It is not clear how narration is judged. Unlike the music and visual captions...") but for the fact that his proposals are written formally, or atleast very close to it. one of the first things i learned when i got out of high school was that people frequently judge you on your writing. i had one teacher in particular who was a complete nazi when it came to objectiveness, professionalism, and impersonality in formal writing. looking back im glad he was so hard and i barely scraped by because i can now distinguish between an actual presentation of facts/ideas and random words. you dont write in a professional setting in the same manner you would talk to someone. it doesn't transfer information well. at this point it should be obvious that im referring to the submissions by the director of the cadets. granted, i dont know for sure who wrote those submissions, i am in no way involved in a professional roll with DCI or its sponsors, but the fact that DCI even presented writing like that to the general public is pretty disappointing. now i dont know for sure who wrote those submissions, i assume it was the director but i could be wrong. maybe an assistant, or maybe transcribed from a presentation of some sort, but in all honesty thats a #### joke. i am currently in nursing school soon to be working in a hospital and i am absolutely sure if i were if i were to submit a patients clinical journal to a doctor or department head that read like that i could be fired on the spot. and im sure that can relate to any other professional field that any of the readers or this forum are in. i assume that DCI presents itself as a formal entity, and attempts to operate as a proffessional establishment. a rule proposal that affects the core student population of the activity and therefore it's revenue should not be a jumble of sentance fragments, hmm's, maybe's, and emoticons. for the love of god, please someone tell me they agree with me.
  14. yep, most corps make that mistake every now and then. i had one myself... hahaha.. hhehheh... ehhh... that place is dirty... i mean...... dirty...... live "shows" anyone? not the kind your thinking of but in all honesty can you blame them? im sure the staff wants to have a fun freeday as well.
