  1. I don't know how much he charges, I think he did mine for free when i bought one knew. Dave Fedderly is a real nice guy, and pretty flexible, I'd be willing to bet that he'd do it while you were on tour and then ship it back to you later(if you were willing to risk shipping a horn cross-country). How are the vented valves? I think i should get that done, but I have no cash right now. BTW, what's your tubenet SN?
  2. you can use the allen wrench that comes with it to put the ring in a better spot, i have a 2145 too, if yours is two years old then you probably don't have the "BBC mod" i don't know how close you live to baltimore, but if you can, you should bring it in to fedderly's shop and have him do that, makes it an entirely new horn (especially that stuffy lower register you're talking about).
  3. +1 for the pun... -infinity for mentioning Intelligent Design.
  4. i agree with you 100%, although i fail to see what it has to do with what I said.
  5. so when are you gonna take it to the next step and somehow sync this up with finale or Sibelius?
  6. umm... so have you ever played music before? it's about the WAY they combine and transition between fast and slow and loud and soft that makes music emotional, and is obviously what he was referring too, mr. semantics.
  7. An American Elegy and Appolo Unleashed :w00t: Nitro and Vesuvius ( ) I think the narration between the pieces will actually be much lamer than last years; some of last years overlaying the voice with the music was quite good and effective at parts, too bad they're gonna scrap the stuff that worked for them last year instead of refining it and building on it.
  8. what makes 12 better? umm... it's 12 and not 11? duh. will it totally fix underdeveloped musical ideas in dci? no, but it certainly wouldn't hurt. i don't see any good reason to NOT extend the time, especially when it is only a minute.
  9. but 11 minutes ISN'T enough time to develop a wind ensemble piece, that it is why most band lit is total trash, the composers are trying to throw in every compositional and orchestration trick in their bag in a single 10 minute piece thus almost all sound forced and frankly, the same, and the few wind band works that are on comparable quality of orchestral works tend to be multi-movement longer pieces. The same could be said about the majority of drum corps shows.
  10. watching other people's is awesome. some of these transitions are hilariously bad. quite a few good ones as well.
  11. i think that would be awesome actually. in the same regard, how bout commissioning Eric Ewazen to write an original work for drum corps? he is probably the best composer for brass alive right now. it be pretty bad ###.
  12. cadets are doing all tichelli, but no title or concept announced yet.
  13. The company front in the cadets opener, musically, i think is the most spine-tingling front i've ever heard.
  14. how about a "quasi-acid trip " show like cadets 2005 or 06 but with some type of time travel theme? like, you have the beginning of the show with the pit and main characters or whatever, set up the whole idea of maybe your stuck in the delorian and you can't get out or something, and then bam, the horns and drums come in with the G's and play and march their ####. and then the narration is like "oh we must be in the 70's" (but hopefully something much less lame). and then after the text time jump maybe it's like 2228 or something and they can play some kind of whacked out techno or something and use all kinds of amps and pit effects as the horns pick up their normal horns. that was a ###### explaination but hopefully you can see where i am going.
  15. well, if it's set in line with the sideline, instead of on the diagonal, it is actually a native american sign for peace or something like that.
  16. you set yourself up so easily, man. *** anyway, i agree, the people who design drum corps shows basically have no artistic balls. not even the cadets. i want to see shows that #### people off, either because of the pure emotion of the music, or because of the topic the music explores. I also want to see people completely awe-struck to silence, or moved to cry. bottom line is: The OMGZ THEY ARE PLAYING TEH LOUDS   !!!!!!!!!111eleventy-one111!!!!! is not the only emotional response one should have to a show.
  17. i listened to it on manhattan beach music, and i thought nitro was horrendously boring, Tichelli has much better music than that, i have no idea why they would pick it. pieces i hope they use: Radiant Voices Symphony no. 2
  18. what is this? this certanitly isn't the dcp i know. wait wait, i got it OMG BLARGH BLARGH ##### CADETS ##### SKY FALL BLAAA WOODWINDS AMPS HUMAN VOICE BLARGH KEY OF G ##### BLARGH HOPKINS AAAHHH BANDO BLAHHHHHHH ##### NO LOCAL CORPS BLARCH BOA ##### OMG BLARG END OF THE WORLD ARGH ahhh, much better. i was worried for a while there
  19. why wouldn't you see a preference for a ensemble made of mature player than to one made of high school kids? switch it around. it's the 60's/70's somehow, marching bands are the independent organizations with members up to 21, and summer tours, and the relentless pursuit of perfection. and drum and bugle corps are the public school funded, 18 and under, less mature ensemble. would people have still preferred the national DBC show over the National MB show? idk, no one does, cause this is some sort of alternate reality, but interesting.
  20. yea, bk is the ####. and i love Shostakovitch. here's to more "out there" (for dci anyway) music selections.
  21. idk, i didn't think that was as funny as the trumpet. i mean, the czardas is actually a very challenging piece, and she wasn't THAT bad.
