  1. Went to the AMC Theatres in Eden Prairie, MN and the crowd was on the "mature" side. The walk to theatre #14 was like going through an airport concourse but the multiplex was fine. I sat down with my popcorn and $oda plus some peanut m&m's I $muggled in when I overheard the older gentlemen sitting next to me talking about looking forward to seeing last years top 10 shows! I tried to explain that they were about to see one of the first shows of THIS year. Well, I'm sure they thought I was some no-good, shifty youngin (I'm 48) and they were skeptical until one of them read their ticket and put 2 + 2 together! I really enjoyed starting the night off like that. Not sure that this event should be this early in the season but it's a great teaser for those of us who are ready to start our summer fix. It has me salivating for the live shows. I wouldn't attempt to review anything this early that I've only seen in a theatre. Since this medium only gives you the ability to look at what the camera is showing you and the season has only just begun - I'll just wait to be surprised and delighted at the way each show finds its voice. If they do this again maybe they should try another state. (Not that the weather can be accurately predicted anywhere - but Texas?) The show does act as a good commercial for the upcoming season and it was a nice look at what some of the other corps will be doing. Praying for excellent weather for this years DCI MN after last years stormy bust! Just a few days to my first live show of this season and it can't come soon enough!
  2. While I think this is a good and important thread - I would have substituted the word RESPECT for the word class. And I have a great deal of respect for all of you who have marched or are currently. Thanks for many years of inspiration.
  3. ICON Theatres at The West End in Minneapolis, MN Took the whole day off even though I don't have to be in my already reserved seat until 5:30pm! It's DCI Day! GO BLUE STARS! (and everyone else!)
  4. I've been following the activity since the late 70s. never been in a corps but I"m a rabid fan! Taking this Thursday off even though I could get to the theatre after work and have a reserved seat already. I think of it as my own personal holiday "DCI Day" !! DCI MN was messed with by a tornado warning and a storm but nothing is gonna stop me from Big Loud & Live! Like everything, drum corps is going to update and change and we're not all going to like all of it. But seriously - THERE IS NOTHING ELSE QUITE LIKE IT! :worthy:
  5. I don't know but I really was surprised by my first viewing of them yesterday. After following the activity for many years I have never seen them perform only heard their name. It was a really nice surprise in an otherwise wet and disappointing day here in Minneapolis.
  6. It stopped raining but I didn't hear Brent's last announcement from here on the concourse.
  7. We just got those a month or so ago. You rent them by the hour and they are all over the city. I've seen people on them all over town so it must be doing well. Time to shower, powder and sunscreen for a hot day ahead! Still have a ticket in section 141 row 25 if anyone wants to make an offer!
  8. I'll be at the stadium today by 1PM. Make and offer and I'll meet you there.
  9. Still available and considering any offer. Would rather see someone in this seat enjoying this event than have it sit empty. Thanks, Bill
  10. I have a ticket in section 141 row 25 available - check it out here and make me an offer. The post for this ticket is listed in the market place section. Respond to me here or there. ALL offers considered! Thanks, Bill
  11. My friend had car trouble on his way from Michigan. I have an extra ticket that is in section 141 row 25. Would like to see it get used = make me an offer. Thanks, Bill
  12. I have an extra ticket for tomorrow if anyone needs one. I'll give you a great deal. Section 141 row 25
  13. OK now I wish I could have Scotty beam you here because you'd be fun to sit with!
  14. Thanks for that bit of info - at least we know there's a sign of life there.
  15. Looks like I have an extra ticket for tomorrows DCI MN show. Anybody need one?
  16. I kinda doubt that many people there are tweeting!
  17. I live a few blocks from a lake in the middle of Minneapolis and have been riding my bike around it after work the past few weeks. Happy to report the skeeters aren't too bad yet.
  18. I talked my parents and brother into going and they called me from the stands earlier. But (due to my dad) they were 45 minutes early so I insisted he didn't try to leave before the end. He's always trying to beat the traffic out of any venue! They are sure to be blown away by this great line up in my hometown. Wish I was there too but I'll be up here at DCI MN - NO MATTER WHAT! If only there was a cheesehead emoticon on here!
  19. Went to lunch with a coworker today who is taking her parents to this show. Wanted to let her know what to expect and answer her questions. She said she likes marching band and hopes this will be as good - I can't wait to talk to her about it on Monday. Hope I get through work tomorrow without spontaneously combusting! Can's wait for this!!
  20. Belinda on KARE 11 local news/weather just said we're going to have a mild weekend! WOOOHOOOOOO
  21. I would SO be there if I could but I'm in a new job and have no time off yet. Plus a good friend from high school is driving over from Michigan for the Mnpls show and I'm going to try and be a good host. I am trying to get my whole family to go to the La Crosse show. The new stadium is really beautiful and it does have one of the nicest backdrops for a drum corps show "Grandads Bluff"! Looking forward to some reviews on here for the show and stadium. Hurry up Saturday - I'm bustin with excitement!
  22. Just moved back to Minneapolis at the end of last year and was only able to see a few shows in CA since everyone usually heads back "East" after the end of June. This is CHRISTMAS IN JULY! I've had my tickets for months and I keep checking the weather channel website! Can't wait for this awesome line up in a brand new stadium on the U of MN campus. Wish I could be in La Crosse the night before for the Blue Stars show River City Rhapsody but I want to be at the new TCF Bank stadium EARLY! If anyone has rehearsal sites - please post them or direct me to them. Thanks & WOOOHOOOOOO!
