  1. OT, I just met a nice lady tonight while two-steppin whose son, ironically, marched Capitol Regiment last year and is in Troop's snare line this year. It's a small world after all...
  2. I think VK brings that up this year...(?) I eat great bacon.
  3. With the symantics to the activity 'drum corps', DCI may not be DCI.
  4. I beleive in 2nd opinions... Love the link! ...back to the thread...
  5. Very nice!! Thank you for sharing!!!
  6. I woke up in my hotel Sunday morning after the SA show and shaved a star into my hairdoo. I mean, it is so cool! Then, no one would know if I was supporting Blue Stars, the new director for Star of Indana or the Cowboys new wide out. Man....I'm cool...
  7. How bout this...let us get 128/135/150/200 mechanized units onto an...atrium-like setting that will amplify 4 pre-recorded voices into various 'musical' parts who will narrate (I am not in the mood to google if misspelled) and make brass-like sounds, toss various guard equipment and strike percussion instruments (if not sampled) for 15 minutes (or whatever the time rule for the week is). Oh, and call it, uh, GTA...Green Theatrical Arts. Yeah, I'm game...pffft... Keep Some Tradition!
  8. I don't know the whole story (call me naive) but by just looking at the DM in SA, on the stand waiting to 'start' the show, he was stout...intense. That's Madison. Again, the dark slacks may be hiding the marching intensity but 2 things are ocurring: 1) If there is a near-completely new staff, they look to be gellin' (not a Dr Schoals kick) and 2) The kids obviously trust each other. SO many times, and I am also guilty of this, the kids themselves are overlooked. I've made spits about rules and whatnot, but any kid, from any corps, from any country has my respect. I've been there. I've had my corps almost lose it in the middle of tour and we've pulled together to make it. It isn't the destination, it's the ride there - and personally, the ride is more fun with my arms in the air! Ride this baby home Madison!
  9. I also dig the show but I miss the intensisty in the marching (perhaps hidden by the point-saving dark slacks?). Also, you better like girls! I don't want you sniffing your back seat after I sat back there! Again, had a great time with you and medeabrass in SA!!
  10. I'm just so lovable in person! (yack) I'm all about rules. If I have to use a turn signal, so should a cop. I don't think cop cars come with a turn signal as an option(?). If I have to show up to a show to ensure a starting time based on my placement from another show...TADA! If this is our biggest difference in opinon, silvertrombone, we'll be friends for life, dude! Had a blast!! Perhaps I created a squeeky wheel that is about to fall off from wear while gaining flamed troll status (see pic in signature) but I can not let some things go unnoticed. Thats great, but accept the stipulations and have the sanctioning organization publicise exceptions (with detail) to a rule that is in public view that contains full participation by all. Exposing gray area leaves food for trolls like me.
  11. I DLed the complete Legacy Collection with video (hehe) onto mine. I have 2001-2004 on DVD but the file segments are not nearly as defined show-by-show as the Legacy Collection. Work is left to be done...
  12. Shame on me! You are absolutely correct as well as skajerk. It appears as if they are commuting to Pasadena. I still welcome the position as flamed troll persued by Chucky. ^_^
  13. That may look gray to others...hehe Chuck was trained in an art of defense. Never saw him try to mess with a jarhead. ...back to the thread...
  14. HERE'S THIS FLAMED TROLL'S OPINOIN... THEIR SHOW WAS LOUD... LIKE FORCED LOUD... LIKE TYPING WITH CAPS LOUD. The ballad was unsupported with intonation concerns. THE ENERGY WAS GREAT BUT NOT HARNESSED LIKE A FEW WHO PLACED UNDER THEM. WITH A TRUE GE SCORE, I DON'T THINK THEY'D MAKE FINALS, IMO OF COURSE. I'M NO JUDGE AND NOT POLITICAL.
  15. I know that a fav for battery guys is 91 Crossmen (and 92 to follow) ...after wanting to go Div I, they were told to participate in Div I and made a proven statement (as I remember). 84 Suncoast 89 Suncoast 90 Blue Devils 90 Velvet Knights (I dig the end of their percussion feat. "OOOOO") 93 Blue Devils 95 Blue Devils
  16. Thank you! My apologies to Mr. Harloff with all due respect.
  17. Yeah, that was during a duet in our 93 show. Many didn't like the 2-valvers but preferred the 3-valvers. Here's the shot of me holding that horn during the rest of my sideline time... ...back to the thread...
  18. I am not in the position to prove, but it was relayed to me that decisions were made without the consent of some (all?) corps directors. Again, I can not prove nor have I seen proof of such a decision. Eh, the flamed troll wannabe moderator here...still looking for a good troll on fire pic.
  19. Perhaps this is why only three of us showed. Great times none-the-less! See y'all next year if not before!!
  20. Like many, I have heard of Donnie Van Doren. I got to meet him in person during warm-up at the San Antone show... a cordial gentleman. I love his approach of not trying to wins horns in the parking lot (thought I am a BD fan) but more so the techniques he uses. Very interesting, and I love their sound on and off the field. Love the show, love the sound, love the progress...keep it up!
  21. Suncoast 1992. With correct recollection, we stopped counting our breakdowns after 14 times - it wasn't funny anymore and we almost didn't go back out after our first leg of tour. (edit) After doing some reading, I forgot about the 'runthrough' season in 93. At home during everydays, we had an escaped convict run through our corps during a run through. We kinda played it off not knowing what was going on, then the cops showed up to bust the guy. The same year, finals week in Jackson, we had two kids on a moped ride through us during a runthrough. We had a contra tech, who had been carrying around his FTJ (fick the judges) bat, start chasing them. Had he not been 300+/- lbs, it may have not been that funny.
  22. IMO, Crossmen have much more general effect. That, in general, takes care of the rest...
