  1. Masquerade Drum and Bugle Corps is performing on G Bugles....what a novel concept.
  2. Jeff, Did you get my message with my email sent last night?
  3. I have a mouthpiece just for my car. If I'm on the road and am by myself, I am buzzing (the mouthpiece!). I practice a little over an hour a day. I spend maybe 15 minutes on DCP a day. I spend much more time playing with my son than I practice or waste time on the computer (being a daddy rocks!).
  4. Mike....you magnificient ########! :) You're still my hero....but I'm still "The Fist"!
  5. I'm not at all interested, but I find it interesting that no price change has been reflected on the web site.
  6. Sometimes it is a matter as simple as geography. I'd love to march with Renegades, but I live in Mississippi (which sucks bad enough on its own without there being a drum corps close by). Sometimes it is, as was written in the DCI thread, a matter of the leadership not letting the corps progress as it should. For instance a corps just starting out and making NO attempts to recruit (this is STUPID). One would assume that, in starting a drum corps, one would want members to show up. However, this apparantly is not always the case. Sometimes one joins a rebuilding or beginning corps because they have experience that would help with the effort and they offer their help, but are not tasked to help or asked to help. So, one may join with the intention of helping, but their help is either not wanted or needed. I do not understand why a "corps" would begin with no intention of doing everything as well as possible. It seems very stupid, but there are groups out there with questionable "standards" and don't mind doing very little....or at least MUCH less than they could. I realize this is no answer to your question, but they are the feelings/thought that I have based on my corps experiences.
  7. I don't know why this "too young" tripe keeps being thrown around. None of those girls is too young! Remember....half your own age plus one is the cutoff.
  8. My new horn is going to be arriving next week and it's a rotary valve trumpet. So what is the best thing to use on rotary valves? Help me out, horn players!! :)
  9. Not everyone missed it. Ever hear the phrase "you get what you pay for"?
  10. It's true, in the upper and mid voices bugles are cheaper. However, in the low brass the bugles are much more expensive. Phantom Regiment is not the only corps selling used horns for ridiculous prices. Just pointing out a fact. I'm still against Bb in Drum and Bugle Corps.
  11. The only "corps" I can't stand is because of its "leadership". The funny thing is, their "leadership" is so #### poor that it will bring worse things upon the "corps" then them ever getting on the field and having their ##### handed to them by other corps. Oh well....there's nothing wrong with standing and playing on an infield....or at a drag parade. It's not drum corps, but whatever....
  12. And, in the case of the trumpets, they are two years old and only $50 less than a new silver one. What's the point. Furthermore....isn't there a marketplace section of this forum? This is the second time this has been posted on DCP in a place other than the forum. marching bands...sheesh
  13. Hell yeah...2 year old trumpets for $50 less than a brand new one...sign me up! oops...my filter must be loose again.
  14. I attended a Cavaliers camp in 1991 and one of the first things that Jeff Fiedler said at the meeting was "If you're here to audtion for that <funny but nasty description deleted> corps, it's about 40 miles that way...speaking, of course, of Phantom Regiment. I attended a Phantom Regiment camp in 1994 and no mention of The Cavaliers was made. BD/Cadets used to be a big rivalry, but they're happily in bed together now to morph DCI into BOA's summer division.
  15. Maybe their server recognizes the contradicting logic of drum corps and cadets and is freezing up.
  16. Okay...so your G line with the Colts was just as loud your Bb line with Santa Clara. You're disproved your own point. Santa Clara using Bb was only able to play as loud as the Colts using G. Why don't you put your '04 Santa Clara Bb line up against a Santa Clara line using G horns? In order to make a direct comparison as you attempted to do you have to use to equal ensembles.
  17. It's a simple matter of design. The Yamaha Xeno trumpets are fine instruments. The King trumpet was designed to project differently than the Xeno trumpet because the King was designed to be played outdoors. It's a tool for a different purpose. The Xeno is a concert instrument and was designed with that purpose in mind. SO...they're both fine instruments, but one (King) is better suited for outdoor marching band performance than the other (Yamaha). If you're marching get a King....if you're sitting in a wind ensemble get a Yamaha.
  18. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=220081061842 There is one day left on my auction of the complete 16 volume set of "Essential Orchestral Excerpts for Trumpet" by David Hickman. 19. Cozy, Hi! How are things going with you? I hope all goes well with CorpsVets this year! Tell all the old timers there that Kaye & I say hello!
  20. For anybody in the area who is interested.....come on out!! At worst, you spend one day doing something you love....at best you find a new home to perform! Come on out and be an integral part of establishing the identity of a brand new corps! February 17, 2007 10 AM Louisiana Tech University Band Building Ruston, LA We will be working on the Opener and begin marching fundamentals. All are welcome, bring a friend and your horn (traditional key instruments). $25.00 registration fee (applicable towards dues)
  21. Go back to the baby blue tops, white pants and helmets! :)
  22. Ah...well by all means forgive me. It's mighty white of DCI not to promote that division on their website anywhere at all. What corps, then, are members of DCI? I was completely unaware. I guess I just assumed that he meant DCA All Age Corps...since Senior Corps appeared in the subject line and it was posted in the DCA section of this website....live and learn.
  23. You didn't mention any circuit, but you did mention senior...um, all age corps which definitely implies DCA, as there are no all age corps in DCI. I think it's a marvelous idea, by the way.
