I haven't read this whole thread yet. But having heard PR live this year, I don't believe Jupiter horns are the problem. (I actually like the way they sound. Now, if we could just get Paul Rennick to go with Mapex percussion...)

Well, to be clear, I'm not calling it a "bad year." There are aspects of the visual design which I do think are "bad," but I can keep things in perspective, overall. "Disappointing" is probably a better year to describe the year as a whole (AND let's be clear again: there's still time - it's not decided yet).

I just watched the Houston video, and your post pretty much sums up my thoughts. I hadn't had the chance to see their rewrites since I saw the show in the early season, but I have to say: change for the sake of change does not necessarily improve the product. The drill issues that were there in June are still there, despite the rewrites. But when the person who messed up the drill in the first place (and make no mistake, even last year's drill was not good until it too was rewritten) does the rewrites, what do you expect? I'm not really a "guard person," so I can't speak to that area. But the staging, at times, is really lacking. Regardless, it's clear that guard remains an issue for them. I so badly want the best for this corps (at the same time, I was pretty happy for Blue Stars last night....). What's hard for me isn't so much where they're currently sitting competetively, but that I look at the show and don't see the vehicle to move up more than a spot or two, regardless of how well they clean it up. Hoo boy. I've probably done gone and lost my "Regiment Homer" membership card now.

I was just going to post about this. Guard is really holding them back right now. I knew they had visual issues (not just guard) weeks ago, but was hopeful that the changes that were on the way would fix them. Guess not. I'm not counting them out of it just yet -- there's still time. But not a lot.

I voted 03-05, with a special nod toward the 05 uni. Although I like it, I'm less excited about the current Scout uniform now than I was when it debuted last year. But I think, coming off that doozy of 07, my "uniform sensors" needed recalibration.

05 was (and is) one of my very favorite Cadets shows.

Geez, I hope the show goes on tonight. I'm sure there's probably been one, but I can't remember a rainier season in recent years. Go get 'em Regiment!

Is anyone else experiencing problems watching the Bluecoats? The video plays a few seconds and then stops. Looks like the video is loading - it just won't play for me.

Regarding the negativity, I liked most of what I saw tonight, cleanliness issues aside. Only one corps gave me a case of the WTFs.
