I know some of their educational staff came from Oklahoma and I think Georgia. But I'm wondering why Jason Harvey (brass caption head for 2006) wouldn't come back. He got a high brass title for them, why change what works, especially if he did that with G bugles.
-
Where did you get that from?
-
Thank you for the clarification, I seemed to have mixed up the band with another school (for there are several schools within San Antonio).
-
Because that band is funded through a school and tax payer dollars, not fundraisers, souvies, and tour fees. And what is to say that Ronald Reagan high school was already good before this staff was in place? It is easy to get handed something, it isn't easy to build something from the ground up. I'm not saying that this is new Crossmen, but I'm not sure how well they know how things run in corps and not in UIL band.

Troop is officially multi-key!

Try again, Raiders and Impulse were in Bb, but Revolution won high brass with G bugles (including some 2 valve sops and baris). -
A concern that I have is who on the new staff has drum corps experience and where from?
-
Some are lighter so to say, but the center of weight is rather unbalanced in some. It is all a matter of weight distribution really.
-
Even better is the tenor player who almost jumps the gun in 2000. Put your dvd to percussion angle to see him get a little over excited.

VK News...........Staff........and EXCITING UPDATES

Remember, this is not Velvet Knights, therefore, VK is a new corps and has not existed before. And, this would depend on how you look at folding/inactive corps, because Magic of Orlando was folded/inactive for two years and came back with a successful rebound. -
Then what about Revolution? Founded 1999 in San Antonio, a gold medal, and a silver.
-
Well, sorry, but it is rather frustrating when you see someone trying so hard to recruit for Revolution, the original Texas corps, and people simply look down upon them because of division. They loose as much weight, work as hard, have everydays/alldays/spring training in the Texas heat and humidity, and even sleep less than a D I and still show up several D I corps.
-
The ignorant fellow does not know the history of drum corps in Texas obviously, from Lone Star, Legend of Texas, Revolution, and Trinity. All born from Texas, and at the moment (to the best of my knowledge) only two survive at this point. Perhaps the kids who tryout but can not afford the $2000 for Crossmen will look into the <$1000 D II/III corps of Trinity and Revo.
-
Mike Sloan is also helping with Revolution's winterguard program. Wonder how that will work out.
-
Amazing! But Jake is in my chapter, you should come visit our chapter sometime, quite a few drum corps folks here.
-
Sorry Mike, but my K-Psi brother wrote that, so I had to post. He is an awesome guy, I wish him luck in his 2007 season.

DCI article Who would have thought? This reminds me of the picture from last year when ECJ and Spartans were intermingled at retreat.
-
Calm down trumpet1, you will know when they announce it. Check their website and the announcement DCP forum. Drum corps is unpredictable, some things take 5 minutes while other things can take 5 weeks. As soon as they are ready to announce it they will.

Question on "Feeder" corps
txtubadude replied to OboeBrad's topic in DCI Open Class Corps Discussions
I believe Spartans, ECJ, Academy, SCVC, BDB, Revolution, and maybe Oregon Crusaders are allday/touring corps. Most of the others go on a 'pretour' then take off a week then start their D II/III circuit. -
Question on "Feeder" corps
txtubadude replied to OboeBrad's topic in DCI Open Class Corps Discussions
Any corps you go to will have heat in the summer, just the humidity is killer in some places. Plus, you're only in Texas for a week or two, then you tour, hit Texas again most likely (although this year not every corps will be at the San Antonio show.) Just remember that you have two or three corps in Texas if flying somewhere becomes costly, Crossmen, Revolution, and possibly Trinity (haven't seen or heard anything on the upcoming season.) -

Actually it was 2004 that they went for a year off. They placed 6th in D II in 2003.
