  1. oh wow, minimal applause. I don't think the crowd liked it. OOPS!
  2. That singer goes flat just about everytime I've heard them...
  3. I know the Cavies have some mastermind ending planned, similar to '04. Other than that, some things have been changed (for the better) since I saw them on 6/25/06. They're good, but I don't know if they will do it tonight. We'll see!
  4. Crown's brass has some umph! to them this year! I didn't really care for the show concept, and I hated the last measure of the show... hopefully this will be changed b4 finals. Guard looked good as always, and perhaps their percussion needs a new book (even though I know nothing about perc., just didn't seem to fit). Great perf. though!
  5. YAY for the Glassmen!!! If they keep it up, they may be in the top 10!
  6. I've got two comps going at once, awesome!
  7. Very strong Glassmen opener. I'm surprised!!
  8. Good for OC!!! I've always enjoyed and appreciated their shows!!
  9. I think that the corps from the show last night were generally scored lower than expected, and this may justify why their leap is so astounding. It may be a little too high, but I don't think by much. GO MEMPHIS SOUND!!! DIVISION II 1 Memphis Sound 73.925 2 Colt Cadets 52.600 DIVISION III 1 Revolution 62.725 2 Capital Sound 58.475 3 Racine Scouts 43.250 Senior Corps 1 Minnesota Brass, Sr. 79.075 2 Kilties, Sr. 70.175 3 Chops Inc., Sr. 65.175
  10. I don't think AA will lose in Div II anytime soon, meaning this year or the next. They are sharp, and although there are some other good corps in Div II, their location works really well for them.
  11. I am not a BD fan by any means, but I have enjoyed their '00, '03, and now '06 shows. I haven't seen '06, but the music is hot. I can't wait until Indy!
  12. Oops, I knew I was forgetting someone. Surf will def. make finals, but I don't know who to subtract. If Impulse is div. III indeed, it may make it a little easier.
  13. I don't think it's arrogance at all. Once again, I think it is realistic. I don't think it will be a 10 point spread between first and second place, but I also don't think it will be close like div. 1. Look how well they jumped out of the gate, especially compared to the others. Scores back up what i'm saying, not just "arrogance."
  14. The only Div II/III corps I've seen is Memphis Sound and it was at the June 25th Lexington, KY. The brass sounds very good but definitely has much improving to do, guard is short on numbers but has a hard book, and the percussion is smokin (don't know much about perc.). They seem to be getting it together according to scores. It is a very difficult show, it's just a matter of cleaning it up and selling it!
  15. Hmmm, interesting cases. If BK does have a good show, I'll be happy, because they haven't been impressive to me for quite some time. As far as Crest goes, yay for them!
  16. Here are my predictions for Grand Finals 06: 1) The Academy 2) Spartans 3) East Coast Jazz 4) Blue Devils B 5) Oregon Crusaders 6) Vanguard Cadets 7) Memphis Sound 8) Teal Sound 9) Jersey Surf 10) Impulse 11) Revolution 12) Fever It's very possible that some around the middle will change...
  17. Umm, I don't have any '70s corps b/c I really don't know them too well... 1980's '83 Bridgemen '88 Velvet Knights '89 Phantom Regiment '89 Cadets '92 Cavies '93 Star of Indiana '94 Blue Devils '95 Madison Scouts '04 Bluecoats '04 Santa Clara Vanguard (one of my top 10 favorite drum corps shows in history) some of the 80's stuff i just picked up from other people. Any suggestions for the 70's?
  18. We (Memphis Sound) just have some super cleaning to go. It's hard to follow the Spartans. Some major areas we've got to work on is visual and guard. In regards to perc. and brass scores, I think they were a little too low for us. I'm excited at the corps potential, and please no one count them out. But as for the other corps, they were amazing that night. I'm still floored at by how much they've improved since I last saw them in 2003. Good luck to all the corps in div 2/3 and may the best win.
  19. I marched with Memphis Sound in its charter season in 2003. I for one, was the horn sergeant who went through #### and back. In early June, I got a bad case of epididymitis, then in late June I got pneumonia and had to sit out for a week or 2, then in Mid-July, I was diagnosed with acute bronchitis. I know how rough the heat can be on someone. It is very unfortunate that these kids went home, but perhaps they weeded out the bad by sending them home. I thought about going home several times that summer, but I'm not a quitter, I couldn't let myself give up. I cried all the way to the end, never ending a show without having at least one bronchial spasm. My point is, I don't understand how that many people could have gone home. I think that Teal Sound has developed into a wonderful organization, and I hope all is well internally as well as externally. I saw them as well as my former corps in Jackson on the 30th and I was floored. No matter what the division, they will keep trucking. Kudos to all the div 2/3 corps I've seen thus far, b/c they definitely have progressed since I marched 2 years ago. BTW, the numbers I saw on the field was not the same as what was in the proposal. Did they gain some back??
