  1. the unique and exclusive sound of percussion and G bugles...
  2. a lot of it depends on what type of cheese is being served....Little Jeffrey cheese got real smelly by the end of the year...Spartacus cheese was still quite tasty, and Spartacus actually had a lot more.
  3. dang you..was just getting ready to say this... Boston playing "Conquest" as they leave the retreat...
  4. say "30+" and I'd be more agreeable I'm 44 and I've been watching shows since '77...
  5. if I like it, it's drum corps...if I don't like it, it's marching band.
  6. you sure as heck can. There's a difference between snare tuning and out of balance amplified sound. If the snares were tuned out of balance with themselves, than they should have got dinged. If they were all tuned a like, but just lower than normal, the judge was a d-bag, and was probably an old brass judge for Pioneer. Until you penalize mediocrity, it will never get better.
  7. Madison fold? and Cascades place 21 & 25...whacky.
  8. another thing you have to consider is drum corps use crap speakers.
  9. in a niche market like drum corps, and with the number of fans there are, it doesn't have to be the majority...25% fan loss would kill dci...especially if it's the 25% that donates the most, which, considering which fans are disenchanted, is quite possible.
  10. "Theme from Patton" by Jerry Goldsmith "Helena" by My Chemical Romance" "Big Noise from Winnetka" by Bob Haggart Drill - George Zengali Percussion - Dennis DeLucia Brass - Jim Ott Uniforms - Bluecoats 1996 i forgot to add..bugles...2 valve G
  11. and...to answer this topic in a way luvs me sum mello is famous for....
  12. only the strong survive...which is why drum corps isn't.
  13. add electronics to the woodwinds, and you'll have what i've been arguing for for years...a completely separate band circuit.
  14. each fan makes his own, personal definition.
  15. this whole argument has been about the fans...drum corps dies without fans.
  16. This is all on the marching member side again... College bands have loyalties all over the world, and they perform all over the country, and their auditions are open to people from all over the world. BOA shows are how long? once again, the fan doesn't care if Dmitri came from the Ukraine to play the tuba. Instrumentation...
  17. for you... it is for some of us, or at least it was before synthesizers were added.
  18. I don't think anyone has argued against this. Your statement just magnifies that it's the differences that make drum corps unique, i.e., instrumentation. Garfield..quit posting the same thing I am at the same time...
  19. So, when Mega Trombone company starts sponsoring, and Conn-Selmer, and trombones and woodwinds are added, yer all for it! Good luck with that. Tradition dictates that a line be drawn in the sand somewhere. Otherwise, nothing is sacred, and the powers can be can do anything they want, whether it destroys the fan base or not.
  20. so..when was the first drum and bugle corps? Sousa was the director of the Marine band in 1880...it was a marching band...it just wasn't called one
