  1. My recollection and understanding (both probably wrong) is that the corps that is currently competing in DivIII under the name of Dutch Boy is actually the cadet corps for the Dutch Boy corps that was the DivI corps. Again, if memory serves, the Dutch Boy Cadets existed for a few years that Dutch Boy was inactive, then the feeder corps dropped the 'Cadets' from their name. Can somebody smater than I am correct this where necessary?
  2. It shouldn't need to be asked again. And it will stop being asked (Well, the frequency with which it is asked will slow) once DCI has written guidelines in place to deal with it.
  3. If that's the case, then yes. That's cruddy.
  4. And the year before, and the year before. And the year after, and the year after...
  5. What I think the OP was referring to, beyond the group of fans he encountered at '06 Finals, was any of a number of postings on this board this summer where people with names like AcademyUncle and HonkAcademyHonk* would have a hissy fit each and every time somebody opined that Academy would not make finals. Often this prediction would be accompanied by a logical reason, one that would be flat out ignored by the Honks, and a FOX-News style attack on the non-Honk would ensue. *I've got dibs on the name HonkAcademyHonk.
  6. How would they not get their full 10 yards? Unless my math/logic circuit is broken this morning, they should have had the entire 10-yard endzone. No?
  7. MLB, baseball's Major League, has clearly defined and published rules for who gets into the postseason, and in what ranking order. The NHL, hockey's Major League, has clearly defined and published rules for who gets into the postseason, and in what ranking order. The NFL, football's Major League, has clearly defined and published rules for who gets into the postseason, and in what ranking order. The NBA, basketball's Major League, has clearly defined and published rules for who gets into the postseason, and in what ranking order. Not that I'm suggesting anything.
  8. Will AdBlock stop links to giant images?
  9. If they ONLY look at regional scores, and ignore missed regionals, where is the incentive to go to early season regionals? If I were a tour director, I'd just hit the last two. To me, they either have to use scores from the same date (or the day before) or use zeros. (Shouldn't that be spelled zeroes? Firefox doesn't think so.)
  10. Let's compare: Oranges are orange with green spots. Apples, while still more roundish than any other standard shape, are not perfect spheres. They come in reds, greens and yellows. Both are fruits. Now why has that spent the past 100 years being so hard?
  11. I'm a Glassmen fan via family, and unless something shocking happens here tonight, I have to like their chances.
  12. It took me a second, but I do remember sharing a site with you guys, and just being flat out amazed at how loud you guys were when we were going back to the site and you were wrapping up your rehearsal. No jerk-memories though. And our support staff was always awesome.
  13. The fix on your end would be to adjust your screen resolution to the point where you need a magnifying glass to see the text. Or block the posts from the people with giant signature images or who tend to post giant pictures. It's nothing wrong with your computer. Just people too busy to resize their images
  14. Magic and Northern Aurora. They came free with the horns. Or something. They were so bad that my high school had free use of NA's drums my senior year, and the next year bought new Yamaha's, even though the free drum offer was still on the table.
  15. WOW! That was fast. You got Tuesday night's Powerball numbers?
  16. I don't know either. Personally, I think that the fact that nobody knows is a large part of why this keeps being such a topic on this board. As long as there exists the possibilty (or the belief) that amplification can only help a show, since there are no 'penalties' for bad amplification, this debate will rage. AS AN EXAMPLE: If I were to learn that if the Music Effect judge felt that the Cadets narration was over the top and took away from the effect of the music, that he could score them lower as he saw fit, then I for one would feel better with narration being allowed. Maybe he already can and we just don't know. I for one would like to. Edit: Changed 'narration' in paragraph one to 'amplification,' since I feel that feedbacking pits should be subject to the same scoring wrath as Story Time at the Rose Bowl.
  17. Everyone is getting too caught up with a too low Colts score that was more due to scoring dymanics than anything they did. Look at that lineup. They had to save some scores for the Top Six corps, so the Colts got a low number, being one of only two non-Top Six corps there. Once everybody gets together at the same show, I'm pretty sure that we'll see the Colts right back there neck-and-neck with the Glassmen for tenth and Blue Stars and Academy right there in the mix for the twelve spot with Crossmen, Spirit and even Madison.
  18. Yeah, good luck with all of that. Have a productive weekend.
  19. Not quite on topic, but not totally off topic either. If anybody is already bringing a camera, could they take and then post a pic of the Glassmen timpiani player with the blue turf behind him? He's been looking forward to this show all year.
  20. Because that poster, who at least in reply seemed to have no beef with my response, had a Cadet as their avatar while calling out one corps for doing something that 'their' corps had been doing the prior two years. That poster got it. Everybody else seems to have gotten it. Please let me know if I need to explain it again. I'd have done the same thing if a Pioneer fan had called the Troopers out for doing the same thing every year. ^0^
  21. It has everything to do with the Cavies show this year, especially as it pertains to this particular thread, a thread on how if something needs to be explained on the web so that the audience 'gets it' in the show, that it might not be performed or written right. A stance that I happen to agree with. I was just mentioning that the Cadets have also been guilty of that in years past.
  22. 11 - 82.550 - Glassmen Go Matt. Oh, and there's a guy looking for you.
