Who remembers Madison's 1997 Pirate show? One of my favorites from this corps. I think this was a great shot of one of the stars from that show.

Im not even sure who this is, or where I got this photo, but did anyone else march in a corps that made you do track basics? I remember this being not very fun! :P

There are far LESS corps nationwide, and just a handful of "championship" level corps that everyone knows - Cavaliers, Cadets, Scouts, Phantom, BD, SCV, Bluecoats, Boston, Xmen at the junior level, so there's less of a "community" feel to most corps since there are so few competitive ones left these days. This loss of community is what I feel the most. Well stated. I dont intend to be one of the ones bashing todays activity, and I hope I dont ever come across as that, but I do think that as corps have folded and the activity has changed it is only natural for some people to miss the old days or the old corps or the way things used to be.

I would say if you can get them to attend a show make sure they visit the parking lot after the show. Try to get a conversation started with a current marching member. Your kids will see that they are just like them and this may motivate them to march next year. Once one does it, others will follow...

NIce new look for a great corps! I like it.

Yeah okay, not what I expected at all but I think with the group the uniform will work well on the field. I know back in 1983 and 1984 the concern with the dark pants was that they were loosing their legs from the crowd. I wonder if this will be the case with this uni as well.

Eric Knutson. Marched in Madison Junior Scouts and Madison Scouts. He was one of the screamers in the Junior Scouts. He was playing double C's when he was like 13!!!!!!

Cadets did a marching warm up that lead right into the show. The year was 1989 and it was their Les Mis show. It was kind of cool. They didnt stop playing between the warm up and the actual show. They worked out the timing so just as the announcer announced the corps the big hit happened.
