  4. Doug McCarroll? THE Doug McCarroll of WHS? What the holy heck are you up to? I didn't know you were the director of a drum corps.
  5. Uh, Madison was the World Champions in '88.
  6. This. I still had one from when I marched and I recently put it on an old Ludwig snare that I bought off eBay and it sounds great.
  7. Well, since it IS live, there's not much they can do about that. Do you suggest they start quarterfinals at a later time so that people can make it to the theaters after they get off work? What about the people on the West coast? Maybe quarters should start at like 6:00 pm Pacific time? What I'm confused about is that on DCIs site, for quarterfinals they have the listing of corps alphabetically and it says "Listed in reverse order of performance". Is that accurate? If so, that means corps like The Cavaliers and SCV won't be shown since they are way down at the bottom.
  8. Give me some more information. I live in Eastern Ohio and go to Rogers flea market quite often. What does RC stand for? Any idea where it might be? Any other information you might be able to provide?
  9. I was planning on going, but it looks like rain. I guess I'll decide at the last minute. Hey Bruckner, what do they do if it rains?
  10. Well here's what I found on corpsreps: 1985: The first time Bluecoats saw Phantom was on 7/5 in Rolling Meadows. Phantom 81.4 1st place Bluecoats 61.9 2nd place 1986: The first time we saw Phantom was on 7/6 in St. Louis. Phantom 75.1 4th place Bluecoats 63.1 6th place 1987: The first time we saw Phantom was on 6/19 in Whitewater. Bluecoats 68.8 4th place Phantom 68.7 5th place The second time was on 6/20 in Milwaukee. Phantom 76.3 1st place Bluecoats 75.1 2nd place The third time was on 6/21 in Normal. Bluecoats 72.5 4th place Phantom 72.2 5th place Next on 6/23 in Canton. Phantom 74.4 2nd place Bluecoats 70.9 3rd place It was all over after that. 1988: The first time we saw Phantom was on 6/17 in Whitewater. Bluecoats 65.5 2nd place Phantom 63.6 5th place The second time was on 6/19 in Normal. Phantom 66.9 1st place Bluecoats 63.8 5th place Didn't see them again until DCM where the spanked us.
  11. 1989? Really? Hard to believe it wasn't before that.
  12. Okay, what about this? Let's say those seven corps keep scoring/placing that close to each other. One would assume that the talent level of each corps is relatively equal, and that most members could easily make any of the seven corps. Now let's say Bluecoats keep coming in 7th year after year. Maybe many members who would have marched Bluecoats will go to the corps that are placing on top. Would the talent level then go down for the Bluecoats and therefore cause them to place lower?
  13. From the article linked on the first page: “Using these tools, I'll be able to post text and picture updates from my cell phone about the weather on the road,” Moore said. “Each night around midnight I publish the next day's forecast. I use a number of resources that other meteorologists use, including numerous computer weather models that help me make a forecast. When I publish the forecasts on the site, I also forward it to a few staff members of the corps to whom the weather forecast is relevant. When I'm on the road, I'll also be giving updates via phone and text to staff if severe weather is on the way.” As for what to expect when joins the Cadets on the road, Moore said he’s up for pitching in any way he can help.

  16. I could be wrong, but I think Mike is saying that in '89 the first high tension drums were introduced, in response to the kevlar heads. He didn't say the kevlar heads were introduced in '89.
  17. I was at the April camp and they have 2 synths and a tympani player.
  18. Could this be the same poster I created a thread about on March 19th? http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...=123204&hl=
  19. Okay, so I give the girl scout $3.50 for a box of cookies. Then the kid in front of Wal-Mart wants my spare change. Then the next week some other kid is selling candles for his school. Then the day after that some woman's daughter from work is selling something else. So yeah, not being able to afford that $3.50 box of girl scout cookies is legitimate, not a crutch. You have to draw the line somewhere. That $10 or $20 could be part of the money that sends my daughter to college one day. I make a pretty good salary. Good enough to allow my wife to stay home with our 3 year old. But we still live pay check to pay check.
  20. Check out the 2:24 mark. That's Bluecoats in the background.
