Probably a trickle down effect. Donations might be down for all corps, so less money for fuel. Wonder if corps have raised there dues to make up the difference.

If scheduled to watch Thurs. - Sat., yes, I'd add another day. If only coming for Finals, because of costs/other comittments, probably not.

As the Kilties are finishing I'm thinking that the only corps I've heard from this finals has been Hawthorne. Interesting how De LaSalle played music the Blue Devils would soon be playing. Plus, this was the Oaklands last year. Hmmmm!

My thoughts on the Wednesday parade Mike were more on getting Drum Corps people to arrive earlier, not just for the finals, and all the additional income generated for all parties involved. The local residents will be there for a Wed. or Sat. parade.

Aware of that Mike from your earlier post, but post #57 mentioned my initial thoughts.

Another good thought. In reality, will six+ more hours practicing prior to Finals earn enough tenths to move up? If semi-finals are real tight with the eventual top 3-5 corps, possibly, but most corps have already added their final GE stuff. Since 72 and the total of 456 positions (1-12)filled, there was probably a very low percentage of movement between Friday and Saturday, especially between 2nd and first. Without any research done, just my thoughts. Maybe a parade would work for most corps as a way to relax before a shorter run through a couple of hours before departure to Lucas.

"My competitive season is over and you want me to stick around for a parade? I've got band camp, work, etc. to get back too." "No top 12 will be in it? No thanks." Schedule it on Wednesday so all corps can march. And guess what DCI, you and the corps can make more money if more people come a day or two earlier because of the parade.

Especially on Easter Sunday! May get a chance at 7PM, but that still might be tough. What about two Sundays-in-a-row with the same program?

This may only happen if that corporation is run by a Bill Cook type. Bill was generous because he loved the activity. His only return was seeing those he assisted continue or get over a tough period. There are many corporations/individuals who easily could afford supporting DCI, but they couldn't be botherd or feel they wouldn't get a "return" for their investment. Marketing their product is the bottom line and I would not want to see a corps looking like a NASCAR sprint cup car. Currently, the manufacturers of musical instuments/clothing/accessories is not enough. Because of fewer corps, there are fewer alumni to chip in, but that's another topic for another time.

Oh OHH! It's getting bad when my drum corps memories are spotty, especially when I was there. Possibly both comments were said since there was a lot of trash talking going on.

Some great pieces during this broadcast, especially "Crown Imperial", the last number, by the Black Dyke (Mills) band. So, I went on youtube and pulled up this video. What a set of chops! The next number, immortal, and the final number really topped the recording off. Need to spend an hour each week with WOB. Great stuff.

But at least they've won before.
