  1. Um....We actually got disqualified for that one..... I believe Tisch still has the sheet that has "disqualified, illegal instrument" written in big letters and underlined, twice.
  2. Unfortunately you can't play unless you have a membership or know someone who will take you...that part stinks!!!
  3. There is such a place that exists that could do all of that. 52 fields at one site...and a soccer stadium to compete in.
  4. Yes that is Vasquez...Dr. Ray Vasquez, Auburn University Professor of Trumpet. Completely free of ego and an outstanding musician to work with!! So you were right.
  5. It's really their approach to the horn that is keeping them from playing in tune. What I mean by that is, that you may also find that those players you speak of also have a tone quality that is vastly different from the rest of the horn line. I usually tell those players that first they need to actually practice and build up their chops before anything else. Then we can really start to talk about embochure and how tone quality can effect intonation. my two cents...
  6. I have to say that at the Eau Claire show this year we had a great crowd response. I was in the stands (with the staff) and from (before) the first hit to the last push in the closer the fans were really into our show.
  7. I'm totally gonna try that one on the bus out to Salem!
  8. I know that with the bands I teach all of our rehearsals are open... As long as the visitor is not causing a disruption. We have had people come and observe only to disrupt rehearsal and get us off track. At that point something had to be done to remove those people. As for just going to observe, I say absolutly go and do it! The only way to get better is to a) "borrow" teaching ideas from others, B) "borrow" teaching ideas from others and make them better (I usually then share the idea back with the orginator), c) come up with your own stuff and SHARE with everyone else. Yea for learning! :)
  9. It is so sweet to see you guys talk about MBI. It was really fun to play with Roger, Ray, Todd and Andy last season. I learned a ton from Ray
  10. Ok well some of us really are waiting... We weren't able to make it to the open house. By the way, hi everyone. I'll see you in January (just stopping in to say hi).
  11. 26 for me.... Also my first year of Drum Corps, what a ride. I will never forget that summer.
